What's new

Militants find new haven

Hekmatyar, Haqqani, Gul Bahadur and other mujahideen hall of fame were not in FATA until 2007 when the insurgency picked up. However some groups call that place home, and they do not like invaders.

Also its Khyber Pakhtoonwa, not NWFP.

FATA is only in name . There was never any kind of federal control there. We must first establish total rule of law in those areas. There can not be double standard in law enforcement in one country. While the rest of Pakistan is progressing , these people in LATA ( Lawless and Troubled Area) are living in the middle age and creating trouble for everyone.

why?

lets see pick one reason from the following

1) your army is not capable to out run them

2)its not pakistan's territory ....its talibanistan and we dont invade other countries.

3)we wont because since they are our only hope for free supplies of high tech equipments with which we can fight with india.......coz we are too lazy to earn our own money and buy military stuff....its a long process......see this way is easy....we allow some terrorists to have some local weapons and we get free high tech stuff...now how easy is that!!!!!

4)if you have any other reason ...please do give them......thats option 4

Right, post all the Pakistan-denigrating BS you have imbibed from around the web, but then again what else would we expect Indians to think like?

The reason, as argued often enough by both military and civilian leaders in Pakistan, is that there are already a 150,000 troops deployed in the North West, and reconstruction and repatriation of displaced peoples still has to be completed in SW, Bajaur and Swat, with Swat possibly the earliest to reach that goal.

In addition to that, there are ongoing operations in Orakzai and khyber, as well as the continuing holding operations in Swat, SW and Bajaur.

Given all this commitment, and the need to maintain a reasonable conventional deterrent on the border and LoC with India, there is opposition to opening another front in NW and expanding operations there.

All this has been covered multiple times in the Pakistani and Western media, that you chose to not even mention the reasons directly articulated by Pakistani officials, and Pakistani and Western analysts, only shows how deeply rooted an anti-Pakistan bias you possess.

The best way to finish all of them is to first take them on one island and than nuke that place.

Once for all.

Two security personnel were killed and at least 13 injured in the latest clash in North Waziristan on Wednesday.

PESHAWAR: Two security personnel were killed and at least 13 injured in the latest clash in North Waziristan on Wednesday.

The casualties took place when militants attacked the ISA check post in North Waziristan. Four militants, which included three Uzbeks and a German, were also killed in the clash.

This is the second attack on Pakistan army personnel in North Waziristan in the past seven days. On Friday, seven soldiers, including an officer were killed and at least 16 injured as militants ambushed an army convoy in North Waziristan

According to local sources, many of the Taliban groups had fled from South Waziristan and moved to North Waziristan. Many of these groups include Chechen and Arab fighters as well.

The situation in North Waziristan is a complicated one with some factions supporting the government and providing safe passage to the Pakistan army.

Meanwhile the operation in the Orakzai Agency is also continuing, with security forces claiming to have killed five militants in the latest phase of the assault.

How much more are we going to tolerate these scumbags attacking our troops in North Waziristan ? and what for should we tolerate it ?

You know what , suddenly I dont feel as bad about US drones making additional holes in the backside of these low life dung beatles.

Although american/nato intentions have been questionable as anytime the militants have been under pressure , they have provided them space in afghansitan by vacating posts and what not but we should ask the americans to help us out in this sincerely so that this conflict can be brought to closure.

US drone kills seven in North Waziristan

All your posts here are essentially documenting drone strikes in NWA. Drone strikes are not a US-only affair as has been proved several times in the past. Drones are based out of Pakistan and there is an intel coordination center along the Pak-Afghan border with ISI, PA, US Army and CIA officers identifying targets and jointly authorizing strikes. All the on-ground intel is being gathered by ISI operatives at significant human cost. It is therefore, bull$hit to claim that Pakistan is doing nothing in NWA. The ground operation hasn't started yet, but there are bloody good reasons for that. Better reasons, for example, than what the US Army has for abandoning posts in Afghanistan for the Taliban to take over.

These strikes you are documenting are joint US/Pakistan action. Don't pretend otherwise.

We will have to start using the Airforce more and more in North Waziristan

The Airforce has been inflicitng double digit casualties in ongoing operation in Aurakzai agency , there is a need for the same to happen in North Waziristan.

We should start with this 'Gul Bahadur' , this low life attacked out troops just before the start of operations in South Waziristan as well , he should not be spared.

I'm not "pretending" anything! I am responding to the posts of your fellow Pakistanis, like T-Faz, that the PA shouldn't enter North Waziristan because it's not Pakistan's war, etc., etc., etc. I know that Pakistan acquiesces to the drone strikes. So, why doesn't the PA or the GoP have the GUTS to say so publicly??????

And this canard about the US "abandoning" posts in Afghanistan to give space to the Pakistani militants, or any other militants, is just so much BS, and you know that as well!

the timing and location of the posts and areas that the US has be abandoning is higly suspicious to say the least

If you know this then why did you say in a previous post that "If you don't do it, we will" with a picture of a Reaper below that line? By your own admission now, we (Pakistan) *are* doing it... so why the rhetoric and chest pounding?

So, why doesn't the PA or the GoP have the GUTS to say so publicly??????

Why doesn't the US have the guts to disclose CIA/USMil torture pics publicly? Obama wanted this to happen... why was there so much nervousness about it and why did it get shot down?

Why doesn't the US have the guts to disclose CIA/USMil torture pics publicly?

Because the USA does not want to excite all the nutcase Muslims out there who whine and cry about USA enhanced interrogations when their own Muslim-majority national governments are doing an order of magnitude worse, with nary a complaint. The rule, with them, seems to be it is OK for a Muslim controlled intelligence service to torture but Christian nation intelligence services are supposed to be angels. Go figure ....
