IF IAF looking into a surgical strike in Pakistan ? if so is :pakistan:PAF ready to counter the Threat & how true is the reason being given to MEDIA:sick: .. that it is to improve our capabilities and minimise the Reaction time
And how this move is going to effect the already deteriorating Situation in the region after Mumbai Darama ?

India deploy MiG 29 near Pakistan border
NEW DELHI (SANA): The Indian Air Force has stationed its MiG 29 aircrafts at Adampur near the Pakistani border to strengthen its air defence capabilities and minimise reaction time, said sources Sunday.

There are two squadrons of the warship aircrafts already present at the Adampur Airbase and the third squadron is on its way from Gujarat.

This matter is already under discussion in Indian Defence Section. No need to open another thread for news already being discussed.

According to several insiders, in the 90s (possibly 2000s also) the PAF operated a squadron of MiG-29s as "aggressors", acquired from Ukraine along with supplies of spare parts.

Mig 23 squads are phased out, only a few are left in IAF fleet and are used as Mig 27 trainers.
The point of Mig 29 near to PAK borders is only to use them as fast interceptors, because most of the Mig 21 will be phased out soon. Not a big deal, especially because it will be only 1 more squad, 2 are already there.

Hmm thats new
PAF wouldn't leak this out but i mean; really...?

If we could procure those aircraft, we'd put them into operation. That's, of course, if we didn't put the money to better use elsewhere. That's a tough bit of information to swallow. But, you never said it was true, you simply transmitted it on. So no complaints.

What threat?...the Mig 29's have been around since the late 80's with India.

BTW they are supposed to have structural faults in their airframes.

I agree it's no threat but it can be an attempt to divert attention of Pak army while it is undertaking major offensive against indnian sponsored TTP at its northern borders.

Indians will not go to open war until they have a nuke.

Do you have a source for the above? else please stop spreading BS.

Structural Fault in MIG-29 Fighter Planes
Russia has pointed out structural faults in MiG-29 aircraft. There was a MiG-29 accident in Russia in December 2008. RAC-MiG has intimated that corrosion on the fin root ribs has been identified as the cause of crack development. There is no plan to decommission MiG-29 aircraft. The repair scheme and preventive measures are in place and IAF has not encountered major problems concerning the issue. IAF has not entered into a new deal for procurement of MiG-29 aircraft. This information was given by Defence Minister Shri AK Antony in a written reply to Shri Prabhat Jha & Balavant Alias Bal Apte in Rajya Sabha today.

great... now you are posting a blog for source. :blah::blah:

check the context dude...
The upgrade programme had also run into rough weather last year after a Russian Air Force MiG-29 crashed in December, with talk of the IAF even toying with decommissioning the fighter.

However with the Russians furnishing the reasons for the crash - structural faults in the aircraft due to corrosion on the fin root ribs – and after the IAF conducted a thorough inspection of its entire fleet, flying recommenced.
The Hindu : National : MiG-29 upgrade programme delayed

if you check this documentary. you will understand that mig 29's air frame was developed to withstand 12Gs

Grey boy2, booo has actually got a good point. The airframes have't been diagnosed with a structural problem yet...they have been grounded and thoroughly x-rayed and have taken to the skies after nothing wrong was found in their air frames...they did give a major scare to the IAF though...

indians are so despicxxxx!!! when facing pakistan they weilded their big sticks threatening the people to submit to him, and by this way india subdued the surrounding immediate weak neighbours to make him the unchallengeable big brother!!!
But when facing china, it pretended to be the innocent victim to draw international sympathy to gain aids and assistance to contain china. such weaklixx.. if you dont want to confront with china, then dont make any aggressive stance to your neighbours or someday you shall get your retribution. the one oppresses others may get oppressed by stronger one eventually..stop this vicious cycle of hatred, if you truly has the will to abandon the hegemonic mindset !!! just a piece of sincere advice.
