MEDIA OUTLET REPORTS POSSIBLE AIR DEFENCE DEAL BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND THALES

.
Hi,

You would get my backing regarding your objections about the chinese electronics---and QC.
Yet the same product works for Apple, because that is a market they value.
It's not that they can't do QC, we just don't push enough and pay enough (at least not to factory, agents in Pakistan pocket millions)

Not there yet, it has to be field proven

Proven platforms like Giraffe/Thales are expensive and Chinese as many here claim not good .. if these MADR's are need of an hour than we have to start from somewhere no ?

Try getting LM TPS-77 with FMF I suppose.

. . . .
6 tps-43s of the 80s were kind of replaced by 6 tps 77 of the 2010, also ylc-2 from china also complement , these are long range but not low level

mpdr-45 and 90 are low level which were complemented by ylc-6s, paf has 6 or 7 CRC with 6-8 mpdr radars tied to it so total around app. 36-50 plus

Fmf is impossible, otherwise lockmart will work with us on the tps-77.
It comes under stuff that could be slipped past congress
How many TPS-77 systems would they need? It can't be as many as the MPDRs - the TPS-77 has a much longer air surveillance range. It should comfortably multiple MPDRs. Moreover, the 2003 deal cost Pakistan $100 million for six radars. That would be $130 million today. Are six TPS-77 really unaffordable? Or does the PAF need like 18?

well if it is true, then its going to be a big set back to Indian```lol, they might start protesting to the French like how they staged against Snapchat``

a side note: Thales presidents visited SAC several times in last few years, I dont know the talks :D```but I know SAC is developing JF-31, and it is for export`````

Junk can be taped up, but not solved.

Son, this radar is fire control, not search or air surveillance . Search radar picks up blips with 100% confidence at the horizon, or is instrumented minimum 160-180 kms.

If you ask me, you will always have judgemental statements against the Chinese. Does some of their tech work? Obviously. They bough LY80, but not LY60, since LY60 was junk. KLJ7 is not entirely Chinese now, is it? ;) Same about ZDK03, not really all Chinese.

advertising?
Well they weren't junk , but they had issues.

SLC2 arty locating radars had issues with their power/batteries.

While A-100 also electronic glitches... for which they than were resolved by our engineers.

They also built a workshop for the A- 100s, which you might be aware of.

TPS 77 is a HLR. We have enough HLRs already.

I have no information. Only opinion.

Son, radars are line of sight. That means, due to curvature of earth, a long range radar creates gaps in coverage. To fill the gap, you have a low looking radar. While you may have national high level coverage, you need some dozen low looking radars to cover the gaps.

We do have TPS-77 (AN/FPS-117). I think six of them were acquired back in 2008. I am not sure if we need more similar range radars on priority basis. Also there are the Chinese YLC-2 radars that complement these and the whole country is covered already (plus we have back up). May be we are looking for some mobile radars to replace our MPDR. OR, May be it is all internet chatter.

Fiscal limits notwithstanding, which one on the market is a good system? To me it seems that the Saab Giraffe 1X is similar in concept to the Siemens MPDR, except the Giraffe 1X is an X-band AESA radar. But, it only has a range of 75 km. There is the Saab Giraffe 4A S-band AESA radar, it has a range of 280 km.
