any engine failure can be resolved, its onyl a question of time, see the Pakistani T-80 UD !

That 1500 HP engine is 6TD-3 basically the same engine as 6TD in T-80UD, and 6TD-2 in Al Khalid. They were smart enough to not reinvent the wheel, the older design was already efficient and reliable, thus the improvement in HP with newer construction techniques,smarter FCUs, etc.

And Al Khalid sure uses some western systems in its drive terrain and some other parts, but the main armament, armour and essentially every other system is based on the older tank.

Really? And I thought the AKs main armament (it's gun) was based on Ukranian KBA3... It's FCS French,IBMS,Laser warning systems,Armour,ERA,NBC,Fire suppression system,etc etc Pakistani... It's transmission,hunter killer,imagery systems French.. Etx etc ..

We have Al-Khalids & T-80UDs for long range and desert terrain whereas Al-Zarrar can be operated in Punjab and semi-hilly terrain. 6th armor is also using Al-Khalids in Punjab. I think military is looking for a high-tech weapon. Otherwise current available weapons can be increased in numbers to fill the gap. Army is doing all these trials for a next gen tank. Most advanced than Al-Khalid, T-90 or any other of this class.

they should go for ToT or domestic production for Altay tank from turkey, mbt-99 is only an upgraded al-khalid
while altay is a truly advance tank

if not PA should invest in more anti armor aircraft
since no matter how advance the tank is, against aircraft it is like a sitting duck

We will see first matured design and serially produced Altay in 2017 bro. Altay will face some additional modifications on turret especially on front side. The current Altays lack Akkor active protection system radars + fire control radars. The side skirt armours on chassis will also be added until that time.

Besides, The Pakistani expert members underline that Altay is too heavy to be effectively operated in Pakistani geography. What Pakistan requires is a tank having a weight around 50-60 tonnes.

Altay has a weight aroun 63 tonnes.

Heavier weight is because of better protection !

I might be missing something really obvious here, but how about instead of buying 500-600 new tanks, keep the existing tanks you already have, and buy 200-250 attack helicopters.
