For your keen observations,
Fault lines cross Pakistan, but they are of a very small Indian plate. There, the probability of a big quake is like 3 times in 100 years.....1935 Quetta Quake, 2005 Kashmir Quake and maybe one more.........Remember India had a big quake in the Past and it does not relieve the fact that an earthquake 1000km off the coast of India near Australian plate lines, can send deadly Tsunamis.......considering the large coast India has and the population on it, India is worse off with a Tsunami than Pakistan with a Earthquake for 8.0 Magnitude.
Remember, In Japan, it wasn't the earthquake that caused damage but resulting Tsunami.
i am not here to wish ill.....but as you or your fellow men said "India is well Insulated" is pretty damn stupid and ignorant comment.
lastly, plates that are very large tend to move and cause major earthquakes owing to their massive sizes. Indian plate is very small compared to what Japan has around it.......

Mariners who escaped the onslaught of the tsunami soon had to contend with another peril - the appearance of vast whirlpools off the coast of Japan.
The powerful vortices appeared yesterday morning when the oceans, swollen by the vast surge of water, began to recede.
As the water levels fell, whirlpools hundreds of yards wide appeared, sucking everything into the themselves and creating new danger for passing boats.

Do the US HAARP strikes and tests causing the Tsunami and Earthquakes? This is a question worth to be asked? There is a strong belief among the scientist community that the US HAARP weapon of mass destruction could be invloved in the earthquakes in Haiti, Sichuan which had claimed the lives of 300,000 people including 100,000 children and now Japan. This country is of course the closest ally and muppet follower of the US war criminals having itself sent support soldiers in Afganistan and Iraq. So the US would not deliberately cause a earthquake in Japan, the assumption is that the US warmongers are testing the HAARP weapon of mass destruction in the pacific targeting China and Chinese civilians however the result is that the deliberate earthquake caused by the US has instead struck Japan. The true agenda of the US is also suspicious. Why sending two nuclear aircraft carriers to Japan? The F 18 will drop aids to the stranded civilians? or used to evacuate US expats? or will the nuclear weapons onboard the ACs be used to stop the current nuclear leakage from the Japanese Nuclear power plant? or else be used once again to bully and pressure China? Hope that the imperial Japanese War criminals and their descents are safe from the tsunami and earthquake.

Japan police find 200 more bodies
Police say they have found another 200 bodies in quake-hit coastal areas in northern Japan. A police official in Miyagi said on Sunday that authorities were recovering the bodies.
Two days after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami, millions of Japanese were without drinking water or electricity on Sunday, surviving on instant noodles and rice balls. Public broadcaster NHK said around 380,000 people have been evacuated to emergency shelters, many of them without power.
Although the government has doubled the number of soldiers deployed in the aid effort to 100,000, it seemed overwhelmed by whats turning out to be a triple disaster.
According to officials, at least 1,000 people were killed including the 200 bodies found Sunday along the coast and 678 were missing in the earthquake and the ensuing tsunami that hit with breathtaking force and speed, sweeping away everything in its path.
The U.S. Geological Survey calculated the quake to have a magnitude of 8.9, while Japanese officials raised their estimate on Sunday to 9.0. Either way it is the strongest quake ever recorded in Japan.
Teams searched for the missing along hundreds of miles (kilometers) of the Japanese coast, and thousands of hungry survivors huddled in darkened emergency centers that were cut off from rescuers and aid. At least 1.4 million households had gone without water since the quake struck and some 2.5 million households were without electricity.
Large areas of the countryside were surrounded by water and unreachable. Fuel stations were closed and people were running out of gasoline for their cars.
In Iwaki town, residents were leaving due to concerns they over dwindling food and fuel supplies. The town had no electricity and all stores were closed. Local police had taken in about 90 people and given them blankets and rice balls but there was no sign of government or military aid trucks.
In the small town of Tagajo, near the worst -hit port city of Sendai, dazed residents roamed streets cluttered with smashed cars, broken homes and twisted metal.
Residents said the water surged in and quickly rose higher than the first floor of buildings. At Sengen General Hospital the staff worked feverishly to haul bedridden patients up the stairs one at a time. With the halls now dark, those that can leave have gone to the local community center.
There is still no water or power, and weve got some very sick people in here, said hospital official Ikuro Matsumoto.
One older neighborhood sits on low ground near a canal. The tsunami came in from the canal side and blasted through the frail wooden houses, coating the interiors with a thick layer of mud and spilling their contents out into the street on the other side.

The quake with a preliminary magnitude occurred at 10.15 pm local time, the Kyodo news agency said.
The quake was followed by several tremors off the Pacific coast of northeastern Japan over the next hour. The aftershock came after an explosion at Fukushima nuclear plant in northern Japan, 250km north of Tokyo, destroying the building that housed the reactor and triggering radiation leaks.
"The radiation leak was low after the explosion destroyed the exterior walls of the building, but not the actual metal housing enveloping the reactor," government spokesman Yukio Edano told mediapersons. The explosion which left four persons injured led to a 'nationwide atomic alert'.
The agency said that the combined number of people who have died or are unaccounted for in Friday's double disaster that devastated the country's north-western coast is feared to top 1,700. Local media reports said at least 1,300 may have been killed, while chief government spokesman Yukio Edano put the number to around 1,000.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Naoto Kan inspected areas affected by the earth quake, and said the government will do all it can to save people. NHK television quotes a police chief as saying more than 10,000 are feared dead in Miyagi. Our correspondenton the ground said earlier that the same number of people were unaccounted for. Some buildings in the area were moved 3km by the tsunami.

Miyagi police spokesman Go Sugawara said on Sunday that the prefecture’s police chief told a gathering of disaster relief officials that his estimate for deaths in the prefecture was more than 10,000.
There were only 379 officially confirmed deaths in Miyagi out of a total of 801 as of Sunday afternoon.
