What's new

Many have left Pakistan Army or were sent home

Why keep blaming Musharaf for joining hands with the Americans for their so called war on terror? Bush very categorically stated immediately after 9/11 that 'either you are with us or against us'. In addition he did say that if Pakistan doesn't cooperate, it would be 'bombed back to the stone age'.

Now this was no empty rhetoric as passions were high in the aftermath of 9/11 and Bush would have done it, including 'nuking Pakistan's nuclear reactors' with their 15000 pound Daisy Cutters from their B-52s high up in the stratosphere. Now, anyone in Musharraf's position would have had no choice but to join the US of A in the WOT. In hindsight, it is very easy to say that Pakistan should not have done so. Well, what was the alternative?

Secondly, if Pakistan does not support America's WOT, what would happen to the billions of dollars in aid? Pakistan would have been totally sunk economically and become a basket case.

In other words, Pakistan was and is between the devil and the deep blue sea!

Pakistan cost of war on terror is a 100 times more than what it recieved in "aid"!!! AID was like peanuts compared to how much we spent!!! secondly Musharraf did the right thing by allying with "US and allies" however, he should have laid down his own terms and conditions too! like no bases to US and all US debt written off (like Egypt did at camp david)!

musharraf just said YES SIR! instead of bargaining!

what a BS article, a person who has absolutly no knowledge of the army is spewing this shi*

Changing the name of Pakistan:

The Nation has reported in its newspaper today that that a scheme to change Pakistan’s name from Islamic Republic of Pakistan to People’s Republic of Pakistan was discussed in the parliamentary reforms committee and was ultimately withdrawn.

ISLAMABAD – Awami National Party (ANP) during the deliberations of Parliamentary Reforms Committee had proposed to change the name of Islamic Republic of Pakistan as Peoples Republic of Pakistan, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) supported the move, the sources close to these political parties disclosed to TheNation. The idea was, however, dropped due to strong opposition from the rest of the members of the committee, the sources added. MQM Deputy Convener and Federal Minister Dr. Farooq Sattar confirmed it to the media in an informal chat on Wednesday and said that MQM along with PPP members of the committee supported the idea of renaming Islamic Republic of Pakistan as Peoples Republic of Pakistan. On the other hand, ANP member of the committee Haji Adeel denied having proposed the name of Peoples Republic of Pakistan to replace Islamic Republic of Pakistan. However, some members of the committee on condition of anonymity confirmed it to TheNation that ANP had proposed the said change in the name of the country and MQM and PPP members had supported it..... 2009 news.

the point I am trying to make here is, how different could be the elite of Military Establishment in this regard ? how different could be their mindset? afterall they all are eggs from the same bucket !

P.S. the rotten eggs bucket !

What the f_____......

The idea dropped bcaz,
ANP might be supporting the name as 'Awami Republic of Pakistan'
MQM, Muttahida Republic of Pakistan,
JUI(F), Jamiat Republic of Pakistan or Fazlu ur Republic of Pakistan,
PML(N), Noon Republic of Pakistan...

I dont know how the name gonna change the reality....like we changed the name of NWFP to Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.

what the F difference does the motto make to the army????.....the soldier is absolutely not confused, he is still focused as he was before, they are still kicking in FATA,why have a problem with the soldier???

As i have mentioned in the past on this forum, there were approx 17 thousand candidates who applied for the Army in 2007, the numbers were over 30 thousand in 2010, this is say after getting authenticated fact and figures.

This 17000 or 30000 in 2010 Figure can be due to unemployment ................. U must consider this factor as well.......As i know for 2 or 3 posts in Civil Service approximately same number of people apply..........

funny how you just couldnot see, it has changed alot in KP, ask any Hazarvi. anyways on topic, artifacts like motto do have a strong affiliation of its members with it, Motto means that this is what we stand for... there is a hell lot of difference when our military exercise was named Zarb-e-Momin to what now they called Azm-e-Nau... it represent the shift in way of thinking of top command...

changing motto as feared by the journalist would be fatal.

So this means anybody supporting this kinda move are infact the traitors of Islam and the very basic theory of creating Pakistan as a separate nation from India based on Islam.....:what:

I would support changing the name to Republic of Pakistan or Peoples Republic of Pakistan - both of these are good options and preferable

I would support changing the name to Republic of Pakistan or Peoples Republic of Pakistan - both of these are good options and preferable
