We don't have to learn, we already produce generic drugs but it's for the domestic market. The Indians were exposed to Western markets since the 80s when we were just starting out economically, their pharma companies know the FDA rules well and coupled with English, they were the pioneers of the export market. Early on, due to IP restrictions from US, we did not produce a lot of generics but India otoh continued copying foreign drugs using the humanitarian excuse. Now it's different, you are starting to see more and more exports from China. However China could only copy drugs with expired patents while Indians copy every shit.
