Couldn't agree at all.

They had a higher starting point. Taiwan was half industralized by the Japs during the 50 years of colonization while Mainland China have just through 14 years of Japanese invasion (30 million death) and 3 years of civil war. Plus Chiang stole all the gold and silvers and assests to that little island.

i already told you, they had 37 years to do it and failed. When you take the elite scientists and businessmen, gold reserves, and get free US aid as a "bulwark against communism" with a much smaller land mass and population it is easier to develop, of course not easy, but compared to governing 500 million people (which turns into 1.3 billion in 60 years) with all industry destroyed by Japanese?

no it wasn't. taiwan also took human capital, gold, silver and US aid. industrial assets in NE China had to serve all of China, not just NE China, but Taiwan's assets need to served only Taiwan.
