Limited War Possible: Indian Army Chief Kapoor

. . .
Do you mean to say that Mr. Kayani has done some extra ordinary work to be world known. There are many reason why he is known. I am listing a few.
1) He is leading war on terror on it's own soil. Which indirectly means that PA did not perform it's duties well.

how many indirect meanings u have?

Any miltary force either its Indian, Pakistani or American obey the orders of higer command...there is nothing else to do or say.....

My friends brother is a Major. Few years back there was an issue raised at Spin Boldak area. Afghanistan was claiming that it was its terroriy and Pak was saying it was its. My friends bro whos Major got an order from GHQ to move ahead 500m and make their post at 5:45 AM. His watche were synchronized with higher command and he was ordered to start operation at 5:55 am and finished it before 6:15 am.

He moved with his company (poeple of 100 + men), fully armed, mud on their colthes and body as usually army prepared for missions. They just completed their mission at 6:05 AM.

There was no such kind of serious or armed resistance but the reason I am quoting this that there is nothing such kind of Performing duities. Its impossbile and ur statement shows that ur not aware abt the professionalism of an Army.

2) A couple of times there was report that he might plan a coup. Again that is because Pakistan has so many coups.

:mod: Mods wt kind of person he is.
Plz put some qualification to those who want to join this forum.

There is no deal for army to take over, nither they ever do untill and unless they have conflict with civilian gov or any thing going against the intrust of Pak.

And we all know that Mr Kiyani have very good understanding with Gov, especially with M Gillani.

Let me tell u Who, when and why miltary took over Gov in Pak history.

Ayub Khan, 1958-1971, Unstable political climate Ayub deposed Mirza .

General Zia , 1977-1988, Political and civil disorder intensified

Pervez Musharraf, 1999 - 2007, Kargil war where PA abought to capture Kahmir. The operation was without the involvment of Democratic Gov. Mr Nawaz ordered Mushraf to retreat. Mushraf disliked it and the sitituation & relation got worsed bweteen these 2.
U can say it was some how also political.

So far there is not even single threat of conflict between Miltary and Gov. Nither these are the intentions of Kiyani.

Last I have seen many people have not used respectful language Mods is it allowed.

Few reasons, Why world community likes him

Since taking up his current post, a steady parade of top-level U.S. officials have visited General Kayani to make up their own minds about him. Most, including CIA chief Michael Hayden, National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell and CENTCOM commander Admiral William Fallon have come away confident that Kayani knows what he’s doing.[15] Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Kayani has been described as a "soldier’s soldier" by US military officials. When he was appointed army chief, his first move was to visit the front lines in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, something that most US Generals very rarely do with the war in Afghanistan. Spending the Muslim holiday of Eid not with his family, but rather with his soldiers prompted American military officials to praise him as a "soldier’s soldier." A senior US military official predicted that the Pakistani army would perform much better under General Kayani than his predecessor Pervez Musharraf, who was often distracted by politics while serving as both President and Army Chief. The report quoted retired Pakistani military officials as saying that in an army deeply enmeshed in Pakistani politics, General Kayani had declined to ally himself with any political groups. As a junior officer, he briefly served as a military aide to Benazir Bhutto during her first term as prime minister in the late 1980s, but has stayed away from politicians since then

FO accuses India of preparing for limited war

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan accused on Tuesday India of ‘preparing for a limited war’ against it and asked the international community to take notice of New Delhi’s 'long-term intentions’.

‘Major powers have a particular responsibility in this regard,’ Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said. He was commenting on reported remarks of Indian Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor, in which he had warned that a “limited war under a nuclear overhang is still very much a reality in the subcontinent’.

Gen Kapoor’s statement has come at a time when Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is in Washington on a state visit to the US. The peace process between India and Pakistan stalled when terrorists struck Mumbai last year.

The spokesman said in an official statement that world powers ‘should refrain from steps that in any manner negatively affect the strategic balance in South Asia,’ adding that Gen Kapoor’s remarks ‘only reaffirms India’s dangerous and offensive nuclear doctrine’.

India, the spokesman said, had long been working on the so-called ‘Cold Start strategy and preparing for a limited war against Pakistan’ and ‘Gen Kapoor’s statement confirms the hegemonic thrust of India’s nuclear doctrine.’

Declaring that ‘Pakistan is fully capable of safeguarding its national sovereignty and defending its borders’, the spokesman reiterated that Pakistan as a responsible country would continue to promote peace and stability in South Asia on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

Sources in the Foreign Office told Dawn that Pakistan had already conveyed its concern to India over its ‘limited war doctrine’. ‘The Indian army chief’s statement has not come as a surprise for us,’ said a senior official on condition of anonymity, adding that they were aware of this Indian plan.

Speaking at a seminar on the ‘changing nature of conflict: trends and responses’ in New Delhi on Monday, Gen Kapoor had reportedly said that Indian subcontinent was prone to nuclear war.

‘The possibility of a limited war under a nuclear overhang is still a reality, at least in the Indian subcontinent. Along with West Asia, South Asia has gradually emerged as one of the epicentres of conflict and instability.’

‘Territorial disputes, provocation by proxy wars, religious fundamentalism, radical extremism, ethnic tensions and socio-economic disparities are the hallmarks of South Asia,’ he said.

Sharing Gen Kapoor’s viewpoint, Defence Minister A.K. Antony also reportedly ‘expressed concern over nuclear weapons falling into the wrong hands in Pakistan’.

‘Various developments in the last few months, in and around our neighbourhood, particularly Afghanistan and Pakistan, thrust South Asia to the centre-stage of sub-conventional conflict and instability,’

Antony said, adding: ‘The threat of nuclear weapons falling into wrong hands remains an area of serious concern and consequences of such a situation are unimaginable’.

ok :coffee: but remember India has failed to use Afghanistan as base to attack Pakistan so the Indian game is failing now :coffee:

India never tried to use Afghanistan as a base against pakistan !

India'a only role in Afghan is to provide aid and participated in the reconstruction efforts.

After the overthrow of the Taliban, India established diplomatic relations with the newly-established democratic government, provided aid and participated in the reconstruction efforts. India has provided USD 650-750 million in humanitarian and economic aid, making it the largest regional provider of aid for Afghanistan. The Indian Army's Border Roads Organisation is constructing a major road in the remote Afghan province of Nimroz.India's support and collaboration extends to rebuilding of air links, power plants and investing in health and education sectors as well as helping to train Afghan civil servants, diplomats and police. India also seeks the development of supply lines of electricity, oil and natural gas.
Both nations also developed strategic and military cooperation against Islamic militants.Owing to the killing of an Indian national by Taliban militants in November 2005, India deployed 200 soldiers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to provide security for Indian nationals and the projects supported by India.Afghanistan strengthened its ties with India in wake of persisting tensions and problems with Pakistan, which was suspected of continuing to shelter and support the Taliban.India pursues a policy of close cooperation in order to bolster its standing as a regional power and contain its rival Pakistan, which it maintains is supporting Islamic militants in Kashmir and other parts of India.
Three MoUs (memorandum of understanding) for strengthening cooperation in the fields of rural development, education and standardization between the Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) and Afghan National Standardization Authority were signed between India and Afghanistan during Hamid Karzai's visit to India during 9-13 April 2006. An agreement providing $50 million to promote bilateral businesses between India and Afghanistan was signed during the visit of the Afghan Foreign Minister Dr. Spanta between June 29 and July 1, 2006. During the same year, India raised its aid package to Afghanistan by $150 million, to $750 million.India also supported Afghanistan's bid to become a member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

I think its better to help your country first then worry about others.

Do you know the poverty rate of India?. Dont you think it would be better to feed your people first than doing reconstruction in Afghanistan.
By doing the drama of reconstruction in Afghanistan you can fool only your own people not Pakistan !!!!
