What's new

Let's embrace Afghanistan.

What the heck is wrong with you people ? :hitwall:

I'd mandate the seizure of every dollar's worth of Afghan assets in Pakistan and use the proceeds from their sales to mine & fence the Durand Line before throwing every single Afghan living in Pakistan across the border to hate us till their heart's content but from the other side of the Durand Line !

Time to take over Afghanistan permanently

oh bhai Mere Bazar-e- Missar (Egypt) ki burya na ban ....

An old saying ...

“Oh Gods, from the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger, and the vengeance of the Afghan–deliver us.”

Let them be vengeful from across the Durand Line ! :)

I want my lands emptied of all non-Pakistanis; if an Afghan wants to come....get a VISA...do what you came here to do & then get the heck out of my country !

.
tbh,Pakistan cannot afford, not to embrace Afghanistan.what other alternative do u have?
with a porous border,u cannot expect to remain unaffected by the turmoil in Afghanistan.
lekin wahi maza hae,,,,how do u go about it..

Good article. Peace and stability in Afghanistan is in good interest of Pakistan. With the new govt in Afghanistan we can hope for the best.

Border needs to be effectively controlled. I am talking about refugees who are already here. Their repatriation would be slow.

Biharis/up walas were allowed in till 70's as reconomic inmigrants and look at MQM. And unlike them Afghanis can just go back to Afghanistan after making Pakistan hell, their stake in Pakistan is nill. Pakistanis will regret in couple of decades with emergence of yet another AfghaniQM.

that is something worth looking forward to. :)

@Horus
I created a thread in Afghanistan section with an hour long documentary about current and future Afghanistan under the Northern Alliance. its a sobering program with a perspective from a no nonsense American Marine who draws a very bleak picture of his so called NA allies and their daily treatment of Afghans.

so I ask myself.. who would Pakistan deal with? on the south corner we have throat slitting, school burning Taliban and on the north we got child molesting, drug running, robbing, tugging warlords and psychopaths. the country is even more divided and is assured to descend into a civil war. if thats not enough to put off any constructive and mutually beneficial Pak-Afghan socioeconomic strategy then we have TTP leadership in Khost and Kunar that is being hosted by Afghan intelligence and despite being busted twice by Americans, their relations are even getting stronger and blatant. and then there is a matter of Baloch samachar, the BLA and the Indian "cultural centers".

I have had never any doubt and misunderstanding about our "strategic depth" which was to deny India from using this land to promote terrorism and insurgency in Balochistan and elsewhere.

instead of doing something similar to the American nation building.. we just need to deal with the devil. and pay the relevant warlord the right of passage for our access to the central Asia.

Afghanistan is damned, its the armpit of Asia. sadly its been like this before the creation of Pakistan it had a relative stability under a king but now there are too many Chiefs in this country. it is destined to be backwater and badlands of this world and it will drag Pakistan with it too and Indian presence in Afghanistan will see to it that this happens.

That is not good enough for our cause. What we ought to be interested in is what is the solution to this permanent headache?

Mullah Omar, Siraj ud Din Haqqani and Gul Badin Hikmatyat must be approached and convinced to cease hostilities and work towards peace in Afghanistan, regain their trust and support like Nawaz/ Zia enjoyed once in the late 80s.

with their support deal with the Americans, (NA is irrelevant and a spoiler, let the Americans talk to them) advocate a national government in Afghanistan and ensure that Pashtons get their due role and position in the new setup and then only you can expect any peace and resulting links to central Asia

failing that.. just deal with the current war thug and let the Afghans cut each other like they have been doing for centuries

What about the possibility of a Pak-Afghan merger or confederation like the UAE or UK?

the analogy doesnt works in our case
afghanistan is granddaddy of f**ked up
drug lords on one side pushtoon nationists on other
how do you purpose to contain them

An interesting article.

Let us talk about a little more details with what you mean by Pakistan breaking into the CARs economically and diplomatically. What would Pakistan import and export in terms of dollar value on an annual basis, and what would the logistics be of that increased trade? How do you see the CARs supporting Pakistan diplomatically?

perfect for Pashton areas only,,.. Tajiks in the north are religiously against the subcontinent. they would have hated even the united India with the same spirit
so only possibility I see is when the country is divided ethnically

check this out for example that Northern alliance is seen as foreigners and occupiers in the south. their heroes are seen as mega butchers in the south. the Pashton are insulted , looted, raped and killed routinely.
as that sobering video I linked in the other thread said, the northern alliance warlords in Kabul are like Hitler in a Jewish area where the pashtons are made to praise Ahmed Shah Mehsood and General Dostom, the two most hated people in the south of Afghanistan.
our confederation is impossible due to Indian subversion and presence of TTP and BLA camps in Afghanistan. if we can bring the leadership back to the point of late 80s when we took them to Mekka and made them promise for peace.

yea it seems like a face palm but anything similar or close enough would do wonders.
