I created a thread in Afghanistan section with an hour long documentary about current and future Afghanistan under the Northern Alliance. its a sobering program with a perspective from a no nonsense American Marine who draws a very bleak picture of his so called NA allies and their daily treatment of Afghans.
so I ask myself.. who would Pakistan deal with? on the south corner we have throat slitting, school burning Taliban and on the north we got child molesting, drug running, robbing, tugging warlords and psychopaths. the country is even more divided and is assured to descend into a civil war. if thats not enough to put off any constructive and mutually beneficial Pak-Afghan socioeconomic strategy then we have TTP leadership in Khost and Kunar that is being hosted by Afghan intelligence and despite being busted twice by Americans, their relations are even getting stronger and blatant. and then there is a matter of Baloch samachar, the BLA and the Indian "cultural centers".
I have had never any doubt and misunderstanding about our "strategic depth" which was to deny India from using this land to promote terrorism and insurgency in Balochistan and elsewhere.
instead of doing something similar to the American nation building.. we just need to deal with the devil. and pay the relevant warlord the right of passage for our access to the central Asia.
Afghanistan is damned, its the armpit of Asia. sadly its been like this before the creation of Pakistan it had a relative stability under a king but now there are too many Chiefs in this country. it is destined to be backwater and badlands of this world and it will drag Pakistan with it too and Indian presence in Afghanistan will see to it that this happens.
