Kuwait Calls For Deterrent Action Against Syria
Government Tasks Special Team For Emergencies
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29, (Agencies): Kuwait called Thursday for international “deterrent” action against Syria following an alleged chemical attack near Damascus last week. A government statement urged the international community “to assume its moral responsibility towards the crimes committed in Syria and take practical deterrent measures to prevent” new attacks.

The statement comes as the United States and Britain laid out their case for punitive military strikes against Damascus over the alleged Aug 21 chemical attack. UN chief Ban Ki-moon has appealed for the West to give peace a chance, saying arms inspectors on the ground in Syria would report back to him by Saturday on their probe into the alleged attack. Rights groups say hundreds of people were killed, including children, when poisonous gas was unleashed on suburbs of Damascus last week. The Syrian opposition has blamed regime forces for the attack but the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad blamed rebels.

The Council of Ministers held an extraordinary meeting on Thursday inside the Prime Minister’s Office at Seif Palace to discuss the current situation in the region. The meeting was chaired by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah At the end of the meeting, the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Health Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah informed journalists that the meeting focused on discussions about the current situation in the region. He stressed that the looming military face-off in Syria due to the callous use of chemical weapons against the Syrian civilians last week made the meeting imperative. He explained that thousands of innocent Syrians died from the heinous operation that had violated international principles and regulations. He stressed that the action also violated humanitarian values and ethics, adding that if the international community did not intervene at the right time, many other innocent people will be victimized.

Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah indicated that the ministers presented several reports during the meeting to ascertain the readiness of their respective ministries as well as the precautionary measures to face all possible issues particularly security measures and basic services. He revealed that a team headed by the Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al- Khaled Al-Sabah was formed during the meeting to complete the remaining procedures necessary to follow-up the latest developments. He emphasized that the team will execute the approved plans to face emergency cases and protect the national security and stability. He indicated that the Cabinet shares the plight of Syrians, seeking God’s protection over them and the stability of the country. He prayed for them to live in freedom, dignity and peace and hoped that efforts of the international community to stop the bloodshed and human suffering in Syria will not go in vain. In the run-up to take all precautions regarding security matters in the country at this time of regional turbulence, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al- Hamad Al-Sabah met today with the top leaderships in the ministry of Interior to review security plans that could be resorted to in the event of emergencies in the country dictated by regional happenings.

The meeting, attended by the ministry’s undersecretary Lt General Ghazi Abdulrahman al-Omar and a number of assistant undersecretaries, went over assessing the full capabilities of civil defense tactics and plans including effective means of protecting vital government agencies and infrastructure and ensuring the readiness of civil defense workers to execute their duties with competence. Sheikh Mohammad heads the nation’s civil defense commission and in that capacity he expressed satisfaction with what he deemed as readiness of security agencies and apparatuses to take up the task of protecting people and property during an emergency.

The Cabinet, during the session held at Al-Seif Palace, was briefed by ministers about preparations that had been taken by the departments as a precaution against all possibilities at the security level “and all matters related to securing basic services, supplies, basis of security, stability, facilitating citizens’ work and serving their interests.” The Cabinet tasked a team headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to complete all necessary precautions. The team is charged with following up on events and developments, executing the plans for coping with diverse emergencies, taking all necessary precautions to preserve the country security and stability, ensuring all services, needs for the citizens and residents.

Also in this regard, the Kuwaiti Government affirmed its support for the brotherly Syrian people in their humanitarian ordeal, urging His Almighty to bestow upon them security and stability, so they may live freely, in dignity and peace. Moreover, the Cabinet expressed hope the international efforts would result in ending the blood-shed and the painful and tragic conditions suffered by the Syrian people. The Ministry of Electricity has put all its personnel on alert to cope with any emergency conditions and to ensure continuous water and power services to citizens and residents of Kuwait. The ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the ministry officials held a meeting to activate the emergency plan, due to current regional instability.

.
The is the first time I see Kuwait taking a tough stance against Assad. I thought they didn't want to hurt the feelings of their peace-loving Shia community.

.
Thats because of the US moving closer to attack Syria Kuwait is showing some "support" making their friends happy.
Kuwait wont really get into this fight, they are disliked by many religious Saudis and called ajami, but they manage to keep equality unlike others.

That is pure lie unless you prove the opposite. Waiting for a reference if any.

90% of all Kuwaiti nationals are Arabs. Mostly from Najd. A smaller minority is from Iraq (mainly Sunni Arabs as well), Hijaz and Yemen. Rest are non-NATIONALS. Then there are the stateless Bedoun.

Kuwait and Kuwaitis are very close to KSA. There is not even a shadow of an doubt about this.

Even most of the Kuwait Shias have rots to the Eastern Province of KSA just south of Kuwait.

Shias number about 30% of the population and many of them are migrant workers or non-nationals. And far from all support the Child-Murderer in Syria. Just like not all Sunnis necessarily support the opposition. Many are even neutral.

The royal family is from Najd and so are most of the political class and military leadership.

Also there have been Kuwaiti citizens who privately have supported their "favorites" in Syria. The leadership is against this.

Kuwait have no influence anyway so they do not matter much.

Kuwait has stayed out of the sunni-shia conflict as much as possible giving their large Shia minority and neigbhours, they did well staying out of this.

The Peninsula Shield forces that entered Bahrain in March 2011 to help suppress the popular protest movement were composed entirely of Saudi units, troops, and officers. Kuwait and Oman abstained from participating at all in the intervention to avoid facilitating a precedent for a Saudi Brezhnev doctrine.

There are individial Kuwaiti politicans ( not government ) who chose sides,

like Bashars side

And some choose the MB sides.

I will show you about the religious clerics later when I find the link again, however anyone knows that religious Saudi Salafis will call them Ajamis for staying neutral, but I will quote you later for it.

For you everyone is from the Arabian peninsula, even Isaac while hes from Nineveh, Iraq.
Just because people passed through Africa first does not mean we are all Africans, just because people came from Africa to Yemen then to Iraq/Syria/Jordan does not mean we are all Yemenis either. Also this is not important your always typing stories whom I already know like news articles that mention the last 2 decades of history of a country before getting to the point of the title.

Leadership from Nejd
Population, Iraq and Najd with some Ajam.

Shia, around 40%

Anyway what do religious statistics mean when we are talking about them Khaleejis, according to Arab hero Saddam he thinks they are not religious.

At the end of the day only 30% of the population in Kuwait are Shias and many of them are migrants or not even nationals. Some are of non-Arab origin who are a very small minority (less than 10%) of the nationals.

No Saudi scholar (they are not Salafis at least most are not) have not criticized Kuwait for anything. Not sure what you are talking about. If some have they are independent scholars.

The official line of the clerics and government has not been critical of Kuwait WHATSOEVER, Doritos11.

Eh, 90% of all Kuwait nationals are Arabs and by far most of them are from Najd or other places on the Arabian Peninsula. This is hardly a surprise. Every Kuwaiti will confirm this. We know our own countries and neighbors.

Isaac of Ninawa was BORN in what is not current day Eastern Province/Bahrain. It is the historical Bahrain area/Dilmun.

He was born in the region of Bahrain.[1]

The Shias of Kuwait make up 30% and most of them are MIGRANT WORKERS and non-NATIONALS.

Those who are not are very often from the Eastern Province in KSA.

Nobody here is inventing anything. Those are well-known facts. Any Kuwaiti member or person living in Kuwait can confirm this.

I already said that the Kuwaiti government are not involved in Syria and that PRIVATE Kuwaitis are supporting their "ally" in Syria.

Then there is some bs going on here.

was a 7th-century Assyrian bishop
How is that possible if hes from Bahrain.

Kuwaitis are not Khalejiis. Most of them have not their origin in the coastal areas of the Gulf but rather Najd, Iraq, Hijaz, Yemen. Those that do are often the Kuwaiti Shias who are very often originally from the coastal regions of the Eastern Province in KSA.

Even Kuwaiti Arabic have heavy Nadji influences besides Khaleeji.

We have not even discussed the Afro-Arabs in Kuwait who also form 2-5% of the population and are tied to the Afro-Arabs living in the Eastern Province and Southern Iraq (mainly Basra).

Anyway all this is irrelevant. The Kuwaiti leadership want Al-Assad gone if it does not cause too many problems (like most Arab countries) and so is the opinion of the majority of Kuwaitis.

**** ethnicity and dna, this is not the topic nor my response, quit this convo.

Eh, he was born in the historical Bahrain region. All sources say this. Even English Wikipedia. See the source below on the article.

The Arabic Wikipedia says it too.

On Ascetical Life Isaac of Nineveh was a native of Bet Qatraye near present-day Bahrain on the Persian Gulf. A teacher and monk, he was consecrated bishop (ca. 660-680), but preferred to live out his live as an anchorite. A Scriptural scholar, he studies Scripture so much that he became blind and had to dictate his writings. He died at an advance age and was buried in Rabban Shabur, where he spent most of his monastic life. St Isaac's monastic anthropology has a major influence on all of Byzantine spiritual literature. The way toward God, in his writing, was threefold: the way of the body, the way of the soul, and the way of the spirit. In the first stage, the person begins with a total preoccupation with the passions and moves toward God by means of bodily works: fasting, vigils, and psalmody. The next stage involves a struggle against thoughts foreign to the nature of the soul, turning from created objects to the contemplation of God's wisdom and a transformation within. As the person arrives at a total openness of the soul to the future hope, he proceeds to the final stage of unified knowledge, which is an attitude of wonder and praise in continual prayer to God, leading to the freedom of immortal life that is given after the resurrection. This translation, by Mary Hansbury, of St Isaac of Nineveh's work On the Ascetical Life is based on the Syriac text edited by P. Bedjan in Mar Isaacus Ninivita, De Perfectione Religiosa. On Ascetical Life is part of the POPULAR PATRISTIC SERIES.

Nothing Assyrian about him besides speaking the language and settling in Ninawa. He travelled to many countries and lived in them. Including Syria.

Besides Assyrian and Aramaic was spoken across the entire Middle East - including the Arabian Peninsula as a language of trade. Especially Aramaic.

You started making unfounded and untrue claims and started speaking about Ajamis here. Not me.
