The Khilafat movement was a very important event in the political history of India. The Muslims of India had a great regard for the Khilafat (Caliphate) which was held by the Ottoman Empire.

During World War I, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) joined the war in alliance with Germany. But Turkey and Germany lost the war and a pact commonly known as Istanbul Accord was concluded between the Allied Forces on 3rd November 1918. According to this Pact the territories of Turkey were to be divided among France, Greece and Britain.

During the war the Indian Muslims were in a very awkward position, because they had a deep-rooted devotion to the caliphate. They had profound respect for this holy institution. Therefore, their support to the British Government was subject to the safeguard and protection of the holy places of Turkey and on the condition that Turkey will not to be deprived of its territories. But the British Government could not fulfill both of these promises. The Treaty of Sevres 1920 was imposed on Turkey and its territories like Samarna, Thrace and Anatolia were wrested from it and distributed among European countries. A wave of anger swept across the Muslim World and the Indian Muslims rose against the British Government.

Muslim leaders like Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Moulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Moulana Shoukat Ali and others reacted against the British Government policy and were put behind the bars.

Muslims organized a mass movement, which came to be known as Khilafat Movement. The aims of this movement were

(a) To protect the Holy place of Turkey

(b) To restore the Territories of Turkey

(c) To restore the Ottoman Empire.

1. Renunciation of all Government titles.

2. Boycott of legislature and court.

3. Withdrawal of student’s from educational institutions.

4. Resignation from government posts.

5. General civil disobedience.

The Khilafat Movement created political consciousness among the Indian Muslims, which inspired them to constitute another movement for their Independence. Thus, they started the Pakistan Movement. After our independence we carried forward the sentiments of our ancestors. Pakistan-Turk relationship commenced soon after the independence of Pakistan. March 4, 1948 at the appointment of first Turkish ambassador, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah stated, “I really can assure your excellence that the Muslims of Pakistan will entertain sentiments of affection and esteem for your country and now Turkey and Pakistan both as free, sovereign and independent countries can strengthen their ties more and more for the good of both.”
The current status of Pakistan and Turkey relationship can easily be narrated by the words of current President of Turkey, Raceb Tayyab Erdogan. He termed Pakistan as, Home, away from home.” (Erdogan is the only foreign leader who has addressed Pakistani Parliament more than once.)
A quote from a Pakistani who visited Turkey, “Being a Pakistani, I never felt home anywhere in the world other than Turkey.”

Everything aside. I wish we would celebrate our own identity just as much more which we have let be taken over by religion. Our identity should be the combination of our culture, history and religion, but Zia's era erased the former.

We tried to keep the caliphate but the enemy’s were too many

first comes Islam then nationality

a Islamic newspaper? How nice

so long

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk himself abolished the Caliphate.

The whole Wahhabist movement proved, and the current socio-political dynamics continue to prove, that Islamic unity is no longer possible. In times like these, nationality is just as important as Islam. Don't let one supersede the other.

In the book of Abdus Sattar published by OUP, i have read a quote of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (r.a) saying that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as one of the greatest Musalmans of 20th century.

Atatürk saved the identity of Türk millet which we can say live to fight for another day. Both Quaid and İkbal did not supported this movement for a reason because its goals were unreal. On the other hand, Quaid raised the voice for people of Indonesia

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk himself abolished the Caliphate.

He was not wrong, Last Caliphs were corrupts and falls to the sin and lust , Kemal has a choice keep the Caliph with no power or authority and lose the state and countless Muslims, or abolish the useless Caliphate and bring a new model of a State . Actually he saved, Turkey and Islam in the Turkey . If Brits took over than today the Turks would be either slaves, 3rd grades subjects of Empire like Indian Hinuds/Muslims ,or their land would be divided and given to various settlers from EU .

The last Sultan was Vahdettin (Wāhīd ād-Dīn). He was trained as a scholar of Fikh (Islamic jurisprudence). And, he compiled an omnibus on that topic. When they were exiled, they didn't take anything with them other than their clothes. Do you know what was the Sultan's last act before boarding on the ship to exile? He finished his cigarette. Then he took out his very nicely decorated cigarette case and gave it to his ADC. Then he instructed him to return it to the treasury. He died without a single penny in his pocket, and with loans to the grocer and landlady....

by Last I means not a specific one but the previous ones, they might have good qualities but it is true that Caliphate was in decline for reason , Poor leadership is one of them .

Whatever rises has to fall down too...

The fall is 90% due to the internal treachery, conspiracies, dissensions, disunity etc. instigated by the Zionists. And, the crypto & proxy enemies who held the top positions in the Empire did their parts. Not to mention the nationalist movements, insurgencies etc....

And, which Muslim country has even 10% decent leadership now????

After the fall of the Ottomans, the Muslim heartlands haven't seen a single day of peace, honor and security....

My Argument was that Kemal did the right thing based on situation he was in , rest my knowledge on this matter is not much so I leave it to Allah, if he thinks it was time so it was done by his command, if he will's it than another Caliphate will rise but this time it will be based on Unity and principle of Prophet Muhammad Pbuh .

As for the Ottoman Empire, it's time was gone for everything in this world has to taste death...

By the by, the final fall due to taking part in WW1 as a part of the Axis Power was due to the coup monger generals, who toppled Sultan Abdul Hamid Han (RA) in a coup d'état - planned, organized and executed by the Zionists and their proxy scums!!! Six centuries of the Ottoman Jihan Devlet was destroyed within six years of the coup-installed government by the brainless Pashas....

"90% of the combined intelligence of the European Statesmen belong to Sultan Abdul Hamid. the remaining 10% are shared amongst the rest of us" - Otto von Bismarck, Chancellor of the German Empire

Pakistanis should stop being delusional. Arabs and Turks are nationalists who think in their countries first and not some global Islamic unity nonsense.

To do that we first need to get rid of our pride in (No 1):

1) Punjabism, Sindhism, Balochism - politicians play these cards and keep us divided.
2) Nationalized circularium.
3) Unify the country under the banner of Islam - to erase the concepts exploited stated above in No 1.
4) A compulsory military service - modeled under the National Guard to create a sense of identity with the mother land.

In Turkey National Service is given such an importance that even during job interviews they check to see you served in the military or not -- and preference is given to those who served -- cause those who didn't unless for medical reasons are looked down upon.

It started with the decline of Janisaries and when their special privileges were taken away. The 18th century anti slave movement around the world affected it. Wars with Russia weakened the economy and Ottomans who were allied with British till 1870s never realised how the Britishers were buying stakes in the affairs of their state, pasha by pasha. Ottomans left the British camp in Abdul Hamid Khan II 's time but it was too late by then.

We Pakistanis should learn that whenever state pillars fight it destroys the state like it happened here over the long run.Jannisaries(military) vs Sultan(Executive head) .Military was weakened to commit to international treaties and pressures from Europe. What followed next was uncertainty and wars that Ottomans couldn't sustain and piled huge debt. Then the cand things like Tanzimat and advent of a constitution to get financial favors from west and finally a big war where Ottomans had no choice but to take sides and fight for their survival. and then Treaty of Lausanne. Its a long game so friends keep our military strong at the level of Executive and never make them ghar ka nokar..The hurt prestige goes a long way till a collapse.

Religion is something that unites us and makes ua above all other things like colour, race, ethnicity.
If u search for an identity as a race or ethnicity, u will keep dividing and u will keep hating and comparing each other. Once u go down that path, there is no limit. One can argue to be pakistani, then they will further be searching for identity and come up with oashtun or punjabi, then will come northern or southern, then will come khattak or yoisafzai..this keeps on going...
Its Islam that only unotes us, its Islam that unites me to a nigerian who has nothing in common with me but when we meet in a foreign land and do salam, it makes us feel as we belong from one family. The happiness when we find a muslim in a place least expected, the bond we share as a common belief. No theory and no logic have ever combined humans like religion and Islam takes it further.
