Khilafat Movement (1919-1924),Inseparable Bonds Between Pakistan and Turkey

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk himself abolished the Caliphate.

The whole Wahhabist movement proved, and the current socio-political dynamics continue to prove, that Islamic unity is no longer possible. In times like these, nationality is just as important as Islam. Don't let one supersede the other.

I dont blame Mustafa kemal that much, under those circumstance he saved his people somehow, otherwise modern Turkey would have been further divided. Treaty of lausanne was big compromise in this regard.

I tend to differ here Mughals originated from the Central Asian Turkic heartlands.

Yes mughals originally were turkic origin, i meant they came to india from Afghanistan..my point was we cant leech ourselves to their identity. We are who we are, born in any ethnicity or nationality. What unites us is Islam, our common belief.

The Khilafat movement was a very important event in the political history of India. The Muslims of India had a great regard for the Khilafat (Caliphate) which was held by the Ottoman Empire.

During World War I, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) joined the war in alliance with Germany. But Turkey and Germany lost the war and a pact commonly known as Istanbul Accord was concluded between the Allied Forces on 3rd November 1918. According to this Pact the territories of Turkey were to be divided among France, Greece and Britain.

During the war the Indian Muslims were in a very awkward position, because they had a deep-rooted devotion to the caliphate. They had profound respect for this holy institution. Therefore, their support to the British Government was subject to the safeguard and protection of the holy places of Turkey and on the condition that Turkey will not to be deprived of its territories. But the British Government could not fulfill both of these promises. The Treaty of Sevres 1920 was imposed on Turkey and its territories like Samarna, Thrace and Anatolia were wrested from it and distributed among European countries. A wave of anger swept across the Muslim World and the Indian Muslims rose against the British Government.

Muslim leaders like Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Moulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Moulana Shoukat Ali and others reacted against the British Government policy and were put behind the bars.

Muslims organized a mass movement, which came to be known as Khilafat Movement. The aims of this movement were

(a) To protect the Holy place of Turkey

(b) To restore the Territories of Turkey

(c) To restore the Ottoman Empire.

The Khilafat Movement created political consciousness among the Indian Muslims, which inspired them to constitute another movement for their Independence. Thus, they started the Pakistan Movement. After our independence we carried forward the sentiments of our ancestors. Pakistan-Turk relationship commenced soon after the independence of Pakistan. March 4, 1948 at the appointment of first Turkish ambassador, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah stated, “I really can assure your excellence that the Muslims of Pakistan will entertain sentiments of affection and esteem for your country and now Turkey and Pakistan both as free, sovereign and independent countries can strengthen their ties more and more for the good of both.”
The current status of Pakistan and Turkey relationship can easily be narrated by the words of current President of Turkey, Raceb Tayyab Erdogan. He termed Pakistan as, Home, away from home.” (Erdogan is the only foreign leader who has addressed Pakistani Parliament more than once.)
A quote from a Pakistani who visited Turkey, “Being a Pakistani, I never felt home anywhere in the world other than Turkey.”

Nation States are a modern political reality. We do not live in the age of Empires

Nation States are a modern political reality fashioned by the western powers, they literally drew the borders on a piece of paper by their very own hands, in other words you are living in the matrix aka the muslim nation states and the architect of this matrix are the western powers, I would like to imagine for just a moment for Pakistan to be the Neo, the anomaly of this version of the matrix because we came into being following the same set of rules that weakened other Muslim states, strengthened us and we have the potential to achieve so much more, the anomaly in us is so great that even today after over 70 years of Pakistan's independence some muslim kid living in either Amritsar or Assam raises the Pakistani flag in RSS India, Pakistan is not just a nation state we are so much more, we didn't fight for our independence at the behest of any race, we fought for independence for all the Muslims and the aspirations of over a thousand generations of the Muslims of the subcontinent flow through our very veins.

The Khilafat movement of 1920 was the first real political power shown by the Muslims of the subcontinent after the great muslim purge during and after the war for independence in 1857 by the british, the movement showed the subcontinent Muslims their political strength and was a prelude to the Pakistan movement that finally led to our independence in 1947, we still have a lot to achieve after 1947.

We have no technological equipment to turn back time.

Collection of nation states with shared economic and societal vision can only be the most realistic form of Caliphate.

Rest is just an excuse to create war and havoc in the region again

Rest is just an excuse to create war and havoc in the region again

Pacifism and peace is just a myth it is in human nature to create war and havoc, either you prepare to counter the war that is inevitable or die in the pages of history, the most successful "nation" on earth is the USA which has been at war 93% of the time - 222 out of 243 years - since 1776 when they achieved independence.

So you want Pakistan to go to war for Kashmir?

Me Too

Me Too

Prepare for it at-least because we are sleeping at the grass root level because war is inevitable it's not a matter of if but when, the bhagts will not sleep until their dream of fracturing Pakistan is realized.

We do not live in the age of Empires
I tend to disagree ,the cycle of history always repeats itself, whether we like it or not. Smaller states and regions either get annexed or voluntarily join the bigger neighbour. They start off with an Economic and defence alliance and later with the political merger. Europeans are in phase one at the moment and the Arabs still dreaming.

Those days are long long over and 9 times out 10 the reason for merger is war and not some well thought out plan out of a marxist novel
