Khaleda to lead July 13 hunger strike

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will lead the party’s mass hunger strike on July 13 in the capital protesting police attack on its chief whip.

Police assaulted Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque on Manik Mia Avenue on July 6, the first day of the 48-hour countrywide hartal.

BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters that a joint meeting of the party and its front and associate organisations was held on Saturday to make Wednesday’s mass hunger strike a success.

The mass hunger strike will be held at the city’s Engineers’ Institution, Bangladesh (IEB) from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The mass hunger strike and today’s countrywide demonstration was announced on Friday protesting against attack, arrest and filing of cases against BNP leaders and workers across the country and demanding restoration of caretaker government system and also cancellation of the 15th amendment.

The BNP acting secretary general urged the leaders and workers of BNP and like minded political parties to join the mass hunger strike.

Asked whether BNP will remain in the field during Sunday-Monday hartal called by the Islamic Parties, he said, they have extended support to the hartal.
Khaleda to lead July 13 hunger strike

Rather interesting.

If politicians encourage the people to become addicted to a long series of holiday and fun, then the work ethics will be towards discovering ways how not to work.

No wonder there was a thread that was closed on BD workers deportation.

On the one hand Bangladeshis want Bangladesh to be an economic powerhouse and on the other hand, they do eerything to damage the economy by bringing everything including commerce and industry to a grinding halt.

Suicidal!

FBCCI urge Islamic parties to withdraw hartal

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country’s apex business body, has urged the Islamic parties to withdraw their 30-hour hartal in order to allow the continued economic flow of the country.

FBCCI president AK Azad made the appeal from a press conference held at FBCCI office in the capital Saturday afternoon.

Azad said the country and its people just experienced a 48-hour marathon hartal and another 30-hour hartal begins Sunday.

He said the political scenario in the country has been deteriorating due to frequent hartals called by different political parties, which create uncertainty in conducting business activities.

“Hartal impedes economic advancement. Markets of our products will shift to other countries where stable political situation prevails. At any cost, we have to resist the culture of hartal.”

He requested all political parties to “shun destructive and anti-productive politics like hartal” for the greater interest of the common people.

The FBCCI president said the business community feels that there is no alternative to strengthening democracy and democratic institutions for a universal and balanced socio-political development of the country.

He informed that the FBCCI leaders will visit different parts of the country to create mass awareness against hartal. “We’ll arrange meetings and discussions with business community, professionals and working people for creating opinion against hartal.”

President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Asif Ibrahim, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice president Barrister Nihad Kabir and

Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Monwara Hakim Ali also spoke at the press conference.

This shows the desperate situation the BD economy and industry has been held at ransom.

There are many Bangladeshi who are enterprising and can lead the country to be reckonable force, but there are many, who for their selfish reasons think of themselves and not the Nation, which has but recently gained independence, compared to the others in the subcontinent and the neighbourhood.

It is time educated and wise people educate the masses and try to bring this total chaos to a close or else it will be vent de la Mort!

Islamic parties warn of Ramadan hartal

The alliance of 12-religion based political parties on Saturday said it is contemplating enforcing hartal during the month of Ramadan “if the government creates any obstacle to their 30-hour hartal slated to begin Sunday.

“We would launch tougher agitation programmes during Ramadan if the government does not retain “absolute faith in Allah” in the constitution,” said Maulana Abdul Latif Nezami, Islami Oikyo Jote (IOJ) secretary general.

Addressing at pre-hartal press conference at a city hotel, Nezami said hartal is ‘democratic right’ and outcome of any obstacle to the peaceful hartal will not be good.

Khelafat Andolon chief Moulana Ahmadullah Ashraf also spoke at the press conference.

Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish-led 12-party alliance announced 30-hour hartal on June 30 in protest of dropping the phrase “absolute faith in Allah” from the country's charter.

I believe this cannot be done:

Getting angry
-Using Bad language
-Back biting and gossip
-Arguing and fighting with Muslims.
-Being rude and impolite

What can't you do during Ramadan? - Yahoo! Answers

Is this correct?

Muslims are prohibited from some things which are legal and natural for seeking the face of Allah. Muslims are prohibited from eating, drinking, smoking, and engaging in sexual intercourse from dawn (fajr) to sunset (maghrib). Fasting is essentially an attempt to seek nearness to Allah and increase one's piety. One of the remote aims of fasting is to sympathize with those less fortunate ones who do not always have food and drink readily available. Also one must try to avoid cursing and thinking evil thoughts. Fasting is also viewed as a means of controlling one's desires (of hunger, thirst, sexuality, anger) and focusing more on devoting oneself to God.

Sawm also carries a significant spiritual meaning. It teaches one the principle of love: because when one observes Fasting, it is done out of deep love for God and to learn self restraint.
Sawm - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now, if this is correct, then going on hartal is unIslamic since it is not a principle for love or self restraint.

The Bangladeshi politicians are a ZERO if they are not supported by common and ordinary Bangladeshis.

No comments or clarification?

As per the links it is suggested that going on a hartal is not quite correct during the month of Ramadan.

Is that correct?

If so, why are Islamic parties being unIslamic?

Are they really true to their Faith?

unIslamic to you maybe, but to some people SHeikh Hasina is the devil. The truth is people will always find ways to justify their actions. When Govt does a crackdown on the opposition, persecutes them, denies basic human rights and torture them, do you expect them not to protest? Jamaat has been hit the hardest since the awami regime came to power and it is their moral/religious duty to protest.
Maybe in India protesting mean causing a riot and cursing people discriminately and killing people in masses, but here people only protest when they feel injustice.

Of course they should protest, but not during the Holy month of Ramadan.

And isn't it true that during this month you should not harbour anger and all negative emotions?

Hartal is positive emotion and emotion that fosters the goodness of mankind?

How will people go to the bazaar and collect provision to break their fast?

Do they grow date palms in every home and scurry up them every day?

Why compare with India? As per you all, it is the pits and you are but Heaven!

Tarique's trial not acceptable
Staff Correspondent

BNP yesterday alleged the government is hatching a conspiracy to get Tarique Rahman convicted and keep him away from the next general election.

BNP has no alternative to go for a tougher anti-government agitation and expects all political parties, excluding the ruling Awami League, would join the movement, party leaders told a protest rally.

Tarique's trial not acceptable

An interesting country.

If the son of a leading political figure features in a court case, the party goes on strike and puts the country out of gear!

Wonders do not cease!
