KAVERI ENGINE by GTRE (CASE STUDY)

k10 is the programe coupling schema core with original Kaveri reducing the weight, using lighter stronger alloys and composites..... goal is to achieve 110+ kN wet thrust.

k9 Mk2 is improvement on original program without any help.....and achieving 95kN maximum with wet thrust and reduced weight, the core would be the indigenous Kabini.

k10 would see its services on AMCA and other future projects while k9 would be technology demonstrator.

However k9 Mk2 would come to life if it would be integrated with Rafael/EF2000 of the MMRCA..... all depends on the progress of k9 and the will of our AF.

Kaveri MK 2 is nothing but the K-10 engine.. Hoping to see K-10's on LCA mk 2 and AMCA.

K10 is our Kaveri with help of Snecma

and K9 is the original Kaveri producing thrust of 70-81kn thrust but i have not heard of K9MK2.....

as long as K10 can go for 110kn afterburner thrust then AMCA will be in good shape BTW is there any updates on LCA MK2 or AMCA?

K-9 MK 2 as said is an obvious possibility as DRDO is not going to stick around Snecma Core for long, so Kabini core can be worked upon and develop a better variant of it.

will K10 have stealth nozzles for reduced INFRA RED signature since AMCA will be stealth aircraft?

and what is K9MK2 for?

No Idea, a lot has to be worked upn on K-10, nothing much has been disclosed yet. and K-9 would be a better upgraded future version of any Engine we take up using a better kabini core.. Who knows It might still be in research.

i think we should buy technology from Snecma Rolls royce Pratt & Whitney so we can get the know how on how to make engines etc and have companies like TATA or L&T manufacture them

Swadeshi needs to be implemented into our defense industry!

My cars ECU has developed faults multiple times........and i am so annoyed that now looming for older carburator cars...and thats just a car..

wonder how complex and unnecessary it would be to give total electronic control of an aircraft engine to a computer..

In helicopter world...Apache is still flying because it has partial electronic and partial manual control......but the fully electronic controlled comache failed terribly.

building indigenous engine for their fighter jets is good for india...but making it overly complicated by fitting or trying to fit total computer control may be a recipe for disaster.

Kaveri Marine for ship is a huge success. Navy want it for ship.

because naval gas turbines run at constant speed and dont have to face sudden speed changes and resulting thermal shocks...

Kaveri on AMCA: It will a blunder... I suggest first 4-5 AMCA must be tested with reliable engines, In the mean time Kaveri m will be tested on LCA or similar platform... Once AMCA proved to be structurally efficient and parallaly Kavery proved to be reliable, They should be integrated....

Remember, we cannot put all new component in developing AMCA... It will be fatal for Indian projects...

What kind of elaboration is expected by you ?........K9 is the original program and the MK2 would be the elaboration on that original development which had problems in turbine blades...... being over weight..... failing at altitude tests and smoking only 70-16 kN of wet thrust.

The current engine which is being tested successfully has got inputs from some foreign manufacturers in the blade parts but it still has the original Kabini core currently notching 85-87 kN wet thrust it is aimed at achieving any thing between 90-95 kN.

As per link there are loads of them available in the Tejas and MMRCA sticky section help yourself a bit on that part.

Indians are wasting both time & money on this project
it is better that Indian choose any Russian engine which they already have,at solo write
or try to get European engine at solo right
on the other side china ws-10,13,15,18 series engines facing performance issue but some media reports says that ws-13 is totaly active and ws-10 is in last stages

LISTEN MAN OUR MONEY OUR TIME ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN BUT WE RATHER CONTINUE IN OUR PATH NO MATTER WHAT......

thanks for your concern but we want to become self sufficient in fighter engine technology we actually want to build our own fighters own engines own weapons etc to you it may seem like a waste but in a strategic crisis when you are sanctioned by UN like Iran and Nkorea is you'll be wishing you weren't always in a buyer seller relationship because you won't have spares and whatnot

thats good for China but they are still asking Russia for engines maybe because they're WS engines (some of them) are not good enough, Kaveri will be ready before the end of this decade countries like China and India who are way behind in engine technology compared to countries like Russia US France Britain Germany etc need to develop critical technologies like this in case of a strategic crisis
