Kashmir observes shutdown on Indian Republic Day

Despite chilling conditions and overnight snowfall, thousands of people across Kashmir thronged the venues where Republic Day were being celebrated.

J-K Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather unfurled the national flag at Bakshi Stadium where over 5,000 people attended the function.

Reports of good turnout of people at Republic Day functions were received from almost all district and town headquarters in the Valley where cabinet ministers presided over the function.

Large number of people had turned to witness the parade despite chilling weather, as mercury was sub-zero at the time of the event, and light snowfall overnight.

despite all the hoopla, we still witness hoards trying to get in. If we are really so bad, how come we don't see mass exodus that we saw in 1971 (when PK committed atrocities)
