Not just that. They had also donated one Pohang Class Corvette to the Philippines. I hope that this 'donation' didn't contribute to such favorable bias for the Korean side. As you know, the North Koreans were able to sink a Pohang Class with relative impunity the last tragedy broke out. All hands died when the ship sank.

Too bad the Philippines cannot afford JMSDF's own Shirane Class Destroyers, which have a dedicated ASW capability. We have , unofficially, silenced many NorKor subs that had ventured into Japanese territory in the past with these ships.

Bro, Kamotra definitely can held 8 BrahMos (300 KM with steep dive, and upto 500 KM in hi-hi mission), by removing 2 RBU-6000 and upto 16 Barak 8. And Barak 8 is not a normal SAM, it designed to protect the whole fleet like CBG.

Most of the 2000-3000 tonne frigate provide hand held air defense not VLS based SAM. Pohang class or Maestral class is nothing but sitting duck against hybrid Kamotra, they cant provide that much weapon package. If its goes in the hand of VN, then it will be nightmare for PLAN, and best VN's A2/AD

Yep, super nice. Having the Tacticos means that it will have interoperability with the Sigma.

It also means that GRSE will have the experience to help VN to integrate whatever weapons and sensors it want, whether it's western, Russian or Israeli.
Here's what the GRSE rep said in the article:

"One of our main criteria was the reliability and redundancy of CMS system. We wanted a truly international CMS system which has the proven capability of integrating with a wide variety of sensors and weapons,"

I think the Kamorta class can be easily customized to integrate 8 Klub-S AShM/KH-35 AShM if the user(which in this case is the V.N.) wants it.It depends on the user but personally Tacticos along with Harpoon will be a better option for you guys.

No first one is four boat. Second stage will be bigger in number as VN will be adopting Indian strategy in inducting the boats over a period of time. So we can think it should be around 8 ships of same class with batch upgradation. And believe me GSL is by far most competent shipbuilder(naval forces) in India.

I don't think it is possible to sell 6 Kamorta class ships... Shipyards already have their hands full and i don't know how much capacity we would be able to add in the immediate future.

As I said we are not transferring Kamorta exactly. It is different boat with some overlapping capabilities. And yes our shipyards are full but only MDL, CSL and GRSE. GSL has pretty effective work management so they have extra time to provide similer boats in short time.

The Pohang Class was just the "gift". I believe that the Koreans are offering to the Philippines the Incheon Class Frigate. This ship is selling at $232 million per ship. It carries with it an impressive defensive array. Perhaps it might be what the Philippines needs at the moment.

Yes, it can, but Harpoon has many strings attached and range is not that great anyway.

No it is same four boats for initial order and later order will be for minimum 3 but full order will be spread over a period of ten years max. So late to late 2022-25 VN will be operating 8 such kind of boats.

Then you can always count on the french made Exocet Blk-2 AShM which will be perfect for the V.P.N. considering the fact that France usually sell their weapons without any prior string attached.

Absolutely true.

Regrettably, Philippines is following the direction of money under the table and national security is not important enough. Makes no sense, but it is what it is.

This frigate is a comprehensive class of ship. Its effective against sub threat, naval threat and air threats. I believe the Philippines can purchase up to 4 of these.
