Look at your little buddy...
Greed, ambitious, yet not realistic..
Expect other countries to sacrifice for them
Does Japan need to rely this country to fight China?
Or need to talk with China and forget about this little buddy

Thank you, its good to hear that. We were talking strictly about military assistance, nothing to do with economic aid or investment. I think what got Vietnam disappointed was those 4 small ships which in the end are of no significance at all, of course something is better than nothing, but there was an issue of expectation, particularly in light of the situation after the oil rig, so in the end it would be better not to have offered those ships.

I think it might also be an untold political issue because of the type of regime in Vietnam, but more time will make things more clear.

One thing that Japan needs to realize is that of all the countries that are in the front line against China in the south china sea, Vietnam is the only one with enough military capability to face china and the will to fight. Philippines and Malaysia don't quite make it on that regard (Philippines because it doesn't have anything and Malaysia because it doesn't have the will to fight) and Indonesia is in a neutral position at this time, so actually, the urgency of the present situation points to Vietnam if you want actual results on the ground.

I don't recall the word sacrifice or fighting for vietnam, go back to your chinese thread where you belong and try to raise your IQ before talking about things that you don't understand much about kid.

They care more about Philippines, they are getting 10 new ships as a donation, that shows the difference.

The 10 ships going to the Philippines are not free!! It will be transferred to the Philippines through Japan's ODA, which means that the Philippines will have to pay the money back, plus interest!

It is not a donation!!

Are you sure? I used to read that it was a grant.

We have to be diplomatic, my Zhongguoren friend. I think its quite clear that both Japan and China are trying to cooperate with the countries in ASEAN , and its important to defuse the tensions so that more lucrative projects can be acquired. In regards to Vietnam and China; yes its true that both countries my have territorial qualms, but the bilateral trade between both countries is $50 billion. This is expected to grow to $60 Billion by 2015.

The potential for bilateral growth is there. And Vietnam and China can benefit if both sides can put away tensions for the time being. Afterall, who's going to win in a conflict scenario? Both sides suffer, and all that work to develop each others' contiguous borders will be in want.

Guys, let's not go off topic. This topic is about Indian ships and it's potential sales to VN or the Philippines. It is not the place to talk about the geo-political relationship between Japan, China, ASEAN, etc.

And btw, the Japanese Kongo class and Atago class is the king of Asia right now, by far. But this too belongs to another thread.

No its a loan. But it might make sense for the Philippines, as they may not have enough local shipyards to pump out 10 OPVs within a very short period of time. So buying Japanese might be the shortcut.

It probably won't make sense for VN as it has plenty of shipyards to build OPVs anything from 150 ton - 2000 ton.

You are right, I'm waiting for our Indian friends to shed more light into those ships.

Ok, I stand corrected then, the news that I read was wrong.

Your are right, Nihonjin San
Even China and Japan has tension for many years, both sides realize the necessity to improve relationship.
It will benefit both side from political and economy side.
Yet our Vietnam friends don`t realize that...
