What's new

JL-2 is now more advanced than D5

Probably during the period between 2006-2008.

Here was a successful final exam in 2010, a flawless 6/6 exam. You can also read from the Pentagon's report as they briefly mentioned the numerous successful tests of JL-2 since 2010. That's why they believe it is ready to be operational.

JL2 sub-lanuching ICBM succeeded in tests on December,26th,2010

JL-2 launch failure occurred in 2004. Citation below shows failure to reach apogee.

As far as I know, it has been all successes after 2004 (which was 11 years ago).

JL-2 (CSS-NX-14) - China Nuclear Forces

"China test-fired a new long-range, submarine-launched ballistic missile on 16 June 2005. The missile was believed to be the Ju Lang-2. The new SLBM was reportedly fired from a nuclear submarine in waters off Qingdao, with the warhead impacting in a desert in China several thousand kilometers away."

"Regarding the newer Type 094 Jin-class SSBNs, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) believes that the JL-2 Submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) for the Type 094 reached initial deployment in 2013 after a round of successful tests in 2012. [9]

JL-2 SLBM

Actually, there was a failure in 2010, where the missile fell back and hit the launch platform and almost destroy it?

No. Liberty Times from Taiwan is an anti-China tabloid.

You have to quote Jane's Defence, GlobalSecurity, FlightGlobal, Encyclopedia Astronautica, Federation of American Scientists, AviationWeek, Annual Pentagon Report on Chinese Military Power, Australia Air Power or a mainstream newspaper like The New York Times, Washington Post, ABC News, etc.

Known experts like Bill Gertz, Richard Fisher, and Bill Sweetman are also acceptable sources of respected information.

You can't use Liberty Times or StrategyPage as a source.

Well, China's current solid fuel propellant (2854 N*S / kg) is now more powerful than NEPE (2658 N*S / kg) which is used by D5.

In case anyone cares, the technical term is specific impulse.

Thus, China has developed a solid rocket fuel with a higher specific impulse than the Trident D5. (See ChineseTiger1986 citation above).

i would think a great deal of us don't care.
if called for it'll do it's job nonetheless.
