I didn't know that. Imposing religion only pulls people away from religion.
true... i am thinking about all these mullah-type males and burqa'ed females in india... non-muslims, especially ladies, would look at them and become scared and hateful of islam... they will think that islam is all about restrictions and prayings and rituals.
Personally I have noticed one good thing about my Lucknowite family. They do not impose anything on anyone. When I visit I feel totally at home there. My fathers side all have moved to Karachi. They try to impose things on people. When you are with them you MUST pray, you must worship and there are clear limits about what you can and can't do. Even though my nana who stayed on in Lucknow and was a major proponent of Pakistan his helpfulness, his righteous ways made people want to be like him. What my mother tells me about him he never imposed anything.
thanks for that story... you are genuine as always...
when did you last come to india?? have you visited the southern part?? especially bangalore and hyderabad?? because quite restrictive places they are.
but in kashmir, despite the presence of the burqa group, "dukhtaran e millat", the ladies there rebel against restrictions... in 2013, i think, an all-female rock group was formed in kashmir... it was called "pargaash"... but these ladies were forced into closing it... and the "dukhtaran e millat" was formed by a rather obscene female, asyia andrabi, who in 2010 i think had threatened to throw acid on the face of any lady who went with burqa... but still the ladies have rebelled against such backward elements.
The issue I believe is people fail to lead by example. They try to enforce their views onto others. Allama Iqbal was very keen on the idea of Ijtehad. What is Ijtehad. It's a concept where everyone sits together and discusses Islam according to modern times. The debate usually started with the scholar's stating "I may be wrong but so and so"...
indeed... true islam is democratic... and with all the others in it, it is indeed early socialism... iqbal was among the early socialists in south asia... but i find some pakistanis working overtime to declare on behalf of a dead iqbal that iqbal was not socialist.
No one would ever assume that he was right. Today look at Mullahs. They feel they know everything about Islam and anyone who speaks against them is a Kaffir.
i wrote this to the indian member, offbeat... all these mullah types ( taliban/ikhwaan/qaeda/fsa ) are used as foot-soldiers by western governments during nato invasions of strong and socialist muslim nations ( afghanistan, iraq, libya, syria etc )... if the mullah is true muslim ( according to nato government ) and they are created and armed by nato governments, then the nato governments ( especially usa government ) must be muslim too, logically speaking... so, obama is true muslim, sarkozy is true muslim, blair is true muslim... even israeli government is true muslim... why do mullah supporters not think of this??
Our fall as Muslims I believe came after the Mongal invasion when we gave up Ijtehad and critical thought.
i would say the mongols did islam a great favor by finishing off the reach of the hashisheen, the taliban of those times... it is because of that we in modern times know about the glories of intellectual islam ( part of "the golden age of islam" )... and i believe that it was because of the ravages of the hashisheen that weakened the muslim power in medieval europe and lead to "the moor's last sigh".
these mullahs are enemy of muslims.
