Reported that this radar successfully solved the worldwide problem that traditional PD radar fighter can not upgrade the active phased array radar directly in situ by using high-efficiency air-cooled heat dissipation technology. It can greatly reduce the cost of replacement by not changing the existing environment control, power supply and structure of the aircraft . Shortening the reloading cycle and greatly improving the comprehensive combat effectiveness of aircraft

ALL Paf Jf17 will have AESA in the.future.

The biggest upside of this radar is that it can be swapped within the same space without modifications. The downside is its smaller size and perhaps less operational peak power? Hence generates less power that can be managed using air cooling. However, being a full fledged AESA radar, it brings unprecedented advantages for the jf-17, or any aircraft it will be mounted on.

I need some clarification on this, is this a totally new radar or is this klj-7A modified to fit older nose cone of jf-17. @Dazzler @Oscar @messiach .


Not KLJ-7A.

The slightly less powerful/ smaller AESA to upgrade older aircraft. it can be fitted as is without any modifications done to the nose or connectors.

Thanks that explains a lot so that means block 2 will have this smaller AESA without any modifications to the nose cone while block 3 will have a bigger more powerfull unit, well hatsoff to China and Pak but mostly China it's really amazing how far they've come.

Most likely it will as it was the plan to upgrade the entire fleet with AESA.
