JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Interesting news about WS-13E. It is ready for design certification and has better specs than baseline WS-13.

It shall be more fuel efficient than RD-93 because of higher by-pass ratio. But to what extent can it be tweaked for higher thrust (at cost of engine life) remains to be seen. Reportedly PAF has tweaked RD-93 for a higher thrust setting at cost of engine life (from 4000 hours to 2200 hours).

Since Pakistan and Russia have far better relations now than was the case a decade ago, GoP shall likely be considering the possibility of replacing RD-93 with WS-13E with more factors than just performance.

From the post you referred:

-10 family will not transition to this production-certified variant because of its higher bypass ratio compared to the AL-31 family which entails its having less consistent power output during flight at high altitudes or during vigorous manoeuvres. The J-10 series is increasing the electronics content of every successive iteration from the J-10 to 10A to 10B to 10C, so it's imperative that the engine does suffer unpredictable drops in power output as the electronics cannot function without a consistent power supply. The WS-10B, on the other hand, does have decent prospects of future wide-scale adoption on the J-10 series. The Sino-Flanker series can mount the production-certified WS-10 just fine because of their twin-engine design which means both engines supply power to the electronics basically guaranteeing that, even if the WS-10s suffer power output drops during high-G manoeuvres, there would still be enough power from the two engines for the electronics.

It would be a very bad idea to use WS-13E on the Thunder.

@messiach can you shed more light please? All the changes you have been talking about, are they related to the Chinese project or RD-93 MA?

Its very nice, its strange that some block2 jets are getting rusty (yellowish) even they are comparetively newer and this one looks very neat and clean although it was made in 2008 and the rusty one which i had seen in few days back in picture was of 2016 :undecided::undecided:

rust on aircraft.....oh please. iron oxide is rust. which bits are made of iron?

Can any one tell What r these four windows which r opened?
R they made for brusting flares or it is something else ?
