Is it possible to integrate R-74 or R-73L / R-73K or similar Russian missiles in JF-17, there are prospects that now Pakistan can purchase it from Russia.

How are they going to market a product when they can't even make a standardized brochure or a poster based on standardized specification of an 'Operational Product' .... ???

literally worst performance by marketing department .... such a pathetic way to ruin the product & effort ....

No country ever buys fighter jets based on the specification given on just some random poster...You are a knowledgeable member and should know that if ever any country wants to buy a certain jet, they send their Technical officials to obtain the specifications which are not for public viewing. They get to sit in the jet, fly it, know pro's and con's and some details of various electronics used in the fighter jet. I agree there should be a single poster for specification and not mutiples as it gets too annoying for general public.

I dont understand that the dimensions in CATIC poster are different(smaller)compared to the ones in PAC.

This does not agree with the earlier statement that South Africa wanted to buy.

2014 puts Pakistan on map of defense production

(Source: Xinhua) 2014-12-05

KARACHI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The four-day 8th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2014), which concluded at the Expo Center in Karachi on Thursday, put Pakistan on the map of defense production.

Russia has participated for the first time in the IDEAS-2014. During the event, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday, Pakistan and Russia expressed their willingness to expand cooperation in trade of defense technology and defense products.

Around 232 defense companies from across the globe presented their defense products like tanks, aircraft, Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), ammunition, ship building and communications- related equipments.

A total of 88 delegations from 47 countries participated in the four-day exhibition which made it one of the biggest defense product show in the region.

The delegations from China, Qatar, Turkey, S.Korea, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, and Sudan appreciated the turnout at the IDEAS-2014 and termed it a meaningful step toward achieving self-sufficiency in defense production for Pakistan.

China set up the biggest pavilion at the Karachi Expo Center, followed by Turkey.

The government of Pakistan used the exhibition to showcase its defense production, besides providing top weapons and ammunition producers a platform to exhibit their produces to the prospective customers.

Pakistan showcased its indigenously developed products including battle tank Al-Khalid, JF-17 Thunder Fighter Aircraft, Armored Personnel Carriers, and missile boats at the event.

Federal Minister for Defense Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said during the event that Pakistan was looking to purchase defense-related machinery and equipments from any country only on the condition of transfer of technology.

Pakistan's Heavy Industry Taxila and Norus Company of Turkey signed an agreement, according to which, the Turkish company will provide B-armed technology to the Pakistan's state-owned company to make seven bullet and low-intensity bomb-proof vehicles.

Nigerian and South African governments took interest in Pakistan's JF-17 Thunder aircraft. Pakistan-made training aircraft Mushaq is already being used by Saudi Arab, Amman, Qatar and now Iraq has also acquired these aircraft from the South Asian country.

The participants hailed Pakistani defense equipment, terming them as high quality products which are on a par with international standards.

One of the participants from Germany, Rohde & Schwarz, famous for its quality wireless communications products, launched its latest state-of-the-art Oscilloscopes and also revealed its world' s fastest Signal and Spectrum Analyzer FSW at the IDEAS-2014. The company attracted several senior officials from defense and private sectors as well as several foreign delegates from Europe, Middle East and Africa.

On the final day of the four-day defense exhibition, Pakistan- made smart bomb "Takbir" attracted much attention.

Talking to reporters at Karachi Expo Center, Pakistan Air Force 's Zubair Iqbal Malik said the bomb had the capacity and precision to hit accurately its target within only seven seconds and it can be launched from a fighter aircraft.

The smart bomb Takbir, which has a range of 80-100 kilometers, expands its wings as soon as it is launched and makes its way while dodging the hurdles in its way with 250 kg of explosive material.

Saudi defense delegation took special interest in smart bomb Takbir and other defense products like drones, Al-Khalid Tank and F-17 Jet Fighters.

Pakistan looks to boost military export with revamped JF-17

KARACHI:
A revamped version of JF-17 jet fighter took centre stage at 8th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) in Karachi this week as the country looks to boost its role as a military exporter on the world stage.

The new JF-17, which is manufactured at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) just west of Islamabad, was among the key exhibits at the four-day event.

The plane will initially be handed over to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), which is currently carrying out air strikes against militants in North Waziristan.

“We will hand over 16 Block-II JF-17s to the PAF every year,” said Air Marshal Javaid Ahmad.

He said the first five would be delivered this month and the plant has the capacity to produce 25 aircraft per year.

The air force started using the first edition of the JF-17 in 2010, having historically relied on US imports during wars

Ahmad did not disclose the jet’s sale price, but added: “Several developing countries have shown keen interest in buying JF-17s from Pakistan.”

Sources close to the issue said countries in Central Asia, South America and Africa have expressed interest.

The Block-II JF-17 has improved avionic systems, air-to-air refuelling capability, additional weapons carriage capability and some extra operational capabilities, according to the air force.

It is designed as a lightweight multi-role aircraft, with a claimed top speed of Mach 2.0 and operational ceiling of 55,000 feet.

Analyst Hassan Askari said Pakistan would likely be hoping to market the jet on its competitive price, particularly to Gulf states where it already sends military training missions.

While officials are staying tight-lipped about the sale price, it is likely to be substantially less than the $16-18 million cost of an F-16.

“It will be a new kind of role for Pakistan after it markets the new plane for sale,” he said.

“Pakistan will have economic dividends and you come in the category of the countries which have advanced technology.”

The biennial IDEAS arms fair has expanded to its largest ever size for its eighth edition this year, with 209 companies from 23 countries attending.

According to the government’s Defence Export Promotion Organisation, Pakistan has sold arms, aircraft and ammunition to more than 35 countries around the world over the past two years.

The state-owned Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), which makes armoured vehicles and body armour, exports its al Zarrar tanks to developing countries including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Nigeria.

Lt Colonel Amir Ahmed Khan, HIT’s deputy director, marketing and procurement, told AFP the company was now working on a deal to sell its al Khalid tanks to Saudi Arabia.

“We are in a very advanced stage of striking the deal with Saudi Arabia and already they have used the tanks on a trial basis,” Khan said.

I think the cost of Block-II will not be more than $30 for export.
