What part of Interview you didn't understood when JF-17 project director said it would be installed in 2016 ?

.
why would SA buy JFT. they have Gripens!!!

They can raise two squadrons of JF-17s for the cost of one squadron of Gripen. Plus, they themselves develop the WVR/BVR missiles so they can effectively mate their own weapons.

Last i heard, the South Africans were having budget difficulties running their air force. Even though, South Africa is doing well economically, but they don't have any hi-tech enemy to fight.

It a private company. Likely to train foreign pilots

Force levels. The gripens are proving a bit too expensive to maintain.

Which is what i was wondering......why? South Africa is minting money.....thanks in small part to the 'investments' by Pakistanis as usual.

It seems Block-1 are being upgraded concurrently. Notice white taps on wings, It's wing strengthening measures besides the usual avionics upgrades it will receive

And since we know South africa is in another prospective buyer of JF-17

A team from Paramount Group, South Africa Visits PAC

25 November, 2014 - A 04 member team from Paramount Group, South Africa led by Mr. Ivor Ichikowitz visited PAC on 25 November, 2014. The delegation was welcomed by Chairman PAC. The delegation leader was called on to Chairman PAC Board in his office to discuss the areas of mutual interests and benefits. The visiting team gave a presentation about their areas of expertise in defence products. A detailed question-answer session was carried out after the briefing. The briefing was followed by a tour to PAC facilities. The delegation has highly appreciated the established facilities and acknowledged that Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra is equipped with state-of-the-art machining and manufacturing facilities. He further looked forward towards more relationship between the two countries through downloading of aviation workload to PAC Kamra.

What is significant is both Nigeria, Southafrica and Srilanka paid visit to PAC. All three are potential buyers of JF-17
Azerbaijan defence ministry also visited PAC in november

. . . . . .
yep range is 70 kilo gram

on a serious note, sd-10A has range more than 70km

. . .
I think total with these 5 will be 54 aircraft's. So as to make 18 birds in each squadron. One is the attrition replacement. All three squadron's will be at full power. This year 4th squadron will be raised as shown in the new book pages of air force, as we gets more JF-17's after making 3 squadrons.

Now with the Russians selling directly to Pakistan its RD-93 engines. Its upgrading will also be on charts.
One news show J-10 is also reconsidered as Russian's might give green signal for AL-31F engines for it. FC-31 wont be ready before 2020. Its a trick for diverting attention of Russian's for selling AL-31F.

If Pakistan is reconsidering J-10Bs with Russian engine then they should look for AL-31FN with TVC, Pakistan now have options to look Russian avionics vs Chinese ones and should pic the better ones for J-10s (if purchasing) or JF-17s.
