I have never seen JFT performing a vertical loop??

I don't think the JFT has been really pushed to it's limits till now. It's only been the very basics right now IMO, and it might take some more time before we see the full capabilities of JFT in putting up a good show for the public, in public.

The flying display itself was pretty lackluster. A dry tongue is better than disappointment.

That will remain the case until and unless a dedicated group or squadron is put together for the sole purpose of aerobatics. There is a significant difference between fighter pilots who are expected to abide by all regulations and guidelines for their entire careers and pilots who are paid for the sole purpose to create and perform creative and potentially dangerous routines in front of crowds.

Problem is, at this point, we don't even have enough of the funds, jf-17s, or Thunder qualified pilots for our operational requirement. Naturally then we are not going to see a Thunderbirds-like team of jf-17s. With a super-maneuverable twin engine monster, one can get away with such routines due to the sheer power and agility inherent in the design and propulsion.

All in all, it's another reason why a professional Air Force cannot be expected to and should not try to market and sell an aircraft. The core competences of the PAF are not in the world of commerce. Put an adversary in the air with the very same jf-17 and we'll suddenly be in awe of what the pilot could accomplish, because that is essentially their profession...not so much to garner the applause of a crowd of people.

Very good points for which I thank you, but that statement is more of a hope than a fact at this point in time.

Maybe we can see a dedicated JF aerobatics team, after maybe 5-6 years, when the PAF and export demand has been met and the aircraft is well settled within the PAF, with the new engine as well. Any chance of that happening? (I don't think PAF would be thinking along the same lines though)

It would certainly make for some good showing than the K-8's.

How with max take off weight of 12700 Kg and normal takeoff wt of 9100 kg, external can carry 4600kg?

Yeah that is possible, but this is very unprofessional way to publish specifications, kind of misleading. The external load should have been published as per normal wt (that includes full fuel) and all up wt.

The devil is in the detail: you could be striking 200km away and 1.5t of fuels enough with 4.6t in weapons. I think it is not misleading - one just has to know to read and think through on the descriptions and numbers. This is why buying such equipment is not a 5 minute decision.

JFT has no IFR capability yet, so that explanation can't fit. Could it be, that they meant maximum fuel?

~2300Kg internally
2 x ~880Kg
1 x ~640 Kg

=>~4700Kg

Also interesting is the Ferry range of 2037Km

My friend, descriptions are not given based on some random scenario like half fuel wt etc, rather a standard case (empty wt (nofuel), normal wt = full fuel, all up wt (with external stores)). Based on the standard case, one can then make calculations about other other scenarios.
