i think with coming future jf-17 will mature and is going to be better than f-16 in many ways. and jf-17 is best for us cos it suits us most. only thing that it needs according to me is powerful radar system because in future high tech war better avionics can be very decisive....

yaaar klj7 good but would like to see klj7v(2) radar range increased atleast 30% if aesa has time .im waiting for that news

Klj-7 has sufficient room for upgradation from hardware to software. It reflects the JFT mind set of modularity. It has enough room for more than 50 percent increment of range additional air-air, air-ground, air-sea, ecm and other modes and this is being done in Pakistan. Dont be surprised if you see next version with a search range of 220 km at track range of 160-70 kms. Current one has more than 140 km search range...

Islamabad – Every inch of air boundaries of the homeland is in safe hands as we have sophisticated, advanced conventional and non-conventional arsenals. We are capable to sale out to those who want to save and strengthen their air defense,especially through the pride and state of the art fighter jet “JF-17 Thunder”.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said, while sharing views exclusively with foreign media hocks. We have already increased the production docks for the JF-17 Thunder from four to six, to assemble 25 aircraft every year. Pakistan is now going to join the fighter air craft selling club. Our state of the art fighter JF -17 is an improved version of China’s new generation fighter jet.

“We have bright prospects in the international aviation market because it’s especial features, like all weather flight, light weight, advanced and supreme avionics essential for a modern combat system, and much less maintenance and operational cost, compared to the other fighter planes of its class”. Air Chief added.

Rao Qamar said Pakistan intends to purchase at least three or four Chinese surface-to-air missiles including the advanced Hong Qi-18 (HQ-18), with a maximum range of 100 kilometers to intercept the system.

He said their interception capabilities are taking place between a low level 25 meter to an altitude of 25 kilometers and can intercept even any short range ballistic missiles, aircraft or cruise missiles as well. These missiles system is based upon the Russian S-300V1 type 2 (SA-12A”Gladiator”).

He told the foreign media hocks that they are getting Chinese ZDK-03 air borne warning and control system too and the delivery will be start soon. "We are also thinking about the Chinese engines but we have to examine its quality and capability before the final decision, whether it would be able to fulfill our requirement or not", he said.

Commenting on cooperation in military research and development, he said china and Pakistan will continue to work together in all the areas, there is no lack of trust. We have already jointly achieved a lot of targets successfully.

21 JF-17 thunder jets in final stage: Rao Qamar Suleman

Qamar Suleman has appreciated the role of police in war against terror, a private TV reported on Thursday.
Talking to media after a ceremony in police lines Islamabad, Air Chief said that 45 F-16 fighter gets(jets) are being upgraded in Turkey. He added that new squadrons of F-16 and JF-17 thunder planes would be constituted in March.
He informed that PAF have 21 JF-17 thunder jets in final stage while nine are being manufactured.
Earlier, addressing the passing out ceremony as chief guest, Air Chief Marshal stated that sacrifices of police for the country would not go waste, adding that police and armed forces are fighting against the war on terror hand-to-hand. He was optimistic that terrorism would be eliminated from the country.

I think that's spot on, because AESA will add more weight as well, just like the Chinese engine and you can replace only some parts with composites later, not like you can, when that is the aim from the begining like in the Eurocanards for example. So weight and, or thrust will be an important point for possible Block 2, or 3 upgrades.
