Looking good pakistan airforce should have painted it in better clours desert camo or a black camo would be ideal for this baby anyway our dear indian friends were happy when they heared that JF 17 would not perfom in Fambourgh now the baby arrived in the show by the way is this show is in france or germany

The air show is going to be held in UK

Hi,

You are correct---should have been in dull black paint with a small silver lightening bolt---or simply a pure black color scheme----just for show.

.
Bossman...simple agree with MK or disagree, you don't need to take it personal.
Have you really read MK posts? He has said if french avionics are approved it would be a different story a very potent system indeed.

This strategy has been tested and has worked and JF17 fits in very well with this strategy.

I'm sorry you cannot say it has worked unless Thunder has faced real war scenario against opponent. There are strategies that are battle proven and some are strategies that might work or not.

Hey Chum,

If real combat is the only measure of performance then by that logic JF17 potential rivals i.e. SU30s, Mig29s and even M2K are all useless aircraft. So your effort to defend Mastan has failed. The capability of the Jf17 will be independently tested once other airforces start testing it. And if jf17 was such a scam, as Mastan alleges, why would PAF be pushing the aircraft to other airforces and infact taking it to shows like Farnbrough? The fact that the plane is at a major airshow is a proof of PAF's confidence in the aircraft and it has nothing to hide.

Hi,

That is the source of all our problems---the F 16 and the M2K---. The difference in performance between the F 16 and the m2k---for the so called difference---give 10 points to F 16 and 9 1/2 points to M2K omn a scale of 1---10---where 10 is the best.

Instead of going for the second batch of F 16---paf should have gone for the m2k---it would have performed the coupe de grace on the IAF---and also diversified its portfolio.

Paf was a mirage user---so it was expected of paf to pursue the F 1 and m2k's---they would have done the job that was needed against the russians in afg---secondly---if pak had gone for the M2k's---inida would have opted out of it and stayed with the russians and british---.

There was no F 16 for the inidians in the 80's---now if the paf had gone with the m2k---to to this day---we would have been 80% compatible with IAF all through the 90's and 2000---. Our relationship with india had been totally different----our air force would be acting totally different---we would have been a different country completely as to how we projected ourselves---.

We are barely at 10 % compatibility against the IAF as of today---with what we have---.

With the m2k---we would have been a bvr air force by the late 90's---our projection of force would have been totally different.

Today---in the year 2010---we are technically not where we were supposed to be by the late 90's----.

F 16 was not the natural choice for the paf---the m2k was---.

You know what---when you have the most beautiful woman on your arm---there are many who want her----there are many others who are jealous of you and want to hurt you to get to her----that is what the F 16 was for pakistan-----simply put---a deadly POISION.

M2k is not necessarily a bad alternate for f16 except that it is double the price. Infact PAF was keen on the M2K, however the price in the final contract was such a joke because of Mr. Zardari's involvement the deal fell through. I can tell you exactly what happened between the PAF rep and Benazir in the PM's office how the deal finally died. There was no real offer of any TOT or an assembly plant. If it was, it was just hook to get Pakistan to bite similar to the recent talk about the Tiger. Loosing the M2K and for that matter not getting the F16s was a blessing in disguise. Pakistan muddled through with upgrades etc. but now we have a nascent aircraft industry. BTW which BVR you had in mind for the M2K? What if I told you that couple of PAF's Mirage IIIs might be BVR capable and I am not talking about H2/H4. Your analysis that PAF is 10% of IAF is bull and not based on facts or serious analysis. No doubt PAF has had problems but so does IAF. Its procurement plans are years behind schedule. Its squadron strength is down to 32 against a sanctioned limit of nearly 40. Its training program is a mess without viable primary or basic trainer. It is short of officers. Its planes are falling out of the sky like flies. All this give PAF and JF17 program a lot of breathing space.

No matter how many times one repeats clear facts, they always fall on plugged ears. Relative to its cost and purpose of being an expendable mainstay fighter, the JF-17 contains a lot of bite. For example, it will be equipped with IRST, HMD/S, tactical data-link, etc. Its weapon-systems will include modern BVRAAM, a 5th-gen WVRAAM (potentially A-Darter), precision-guided stand-off (H2/H4) and general (similar to JDAM) munitions. It will have a capable and contemporary ECM/EW suite as well as be capable of IFR. In all likelihood, it will probably be equipped with ARMs and ALCM Ra'ad as well. Now inflate this to a numerical range of 200~250.

We can already guess some of the weapon-systems with fair accuracy. For example, the precision-guided stand-off glide bombs will likely be H-2 and H-4, and the Mectron MAR-1 its ARM. I believe relations with South Africa and Brazil will be pivotal to considerably strengthening the JF-17 program, especially in the long-term.

The South African Denel product range, including A-Darter 5th gen. HOBS WVRAAM, the Umbani PGB kit and T-Darter BVRAAM look great. For starters, we know that PAF is considered as a potential customer for A-Darter for use on JF-17. However, acquiring the Umbani PGB kit and T-Darter BVRAAM would be an amazing turn.

The Umbani is similar to JDAM, a precision-guided bomb kit for dumb-bombs of the Mk-series. However, the JDAM I believe PAF bought covers the 2000 lb and 500 lb range. The Umbani series covers for the 250 lb (Mk.81) and 500 lb (Mk.82) set, an excellent cut for JF-17 - especially alongside the line-up of H2/H4, MAR-1 and Ra'ad. Though we shouldn't discount potential Turkish options such as the Tubitak HGK JDAM program, which looks excellent IMO. Regarding AShM, an initiative should be taken to develop an air-launched version of the ATMACA AShM with Turkey, perhaps with extended range of 100~150km. The next issue is a standard air-to-surface missile similar to JAGM.

The T-Darter is reported be under development. In 1999 the PAF was offered by Denel to join the project, and PAF officials were very impressed by the paper specifications of the missile. As of now, it would seem that T-Darter is in its initialization phases, so PAF has a chance to really step in and yield from a good investment. IMO the T-Darter will likely be in the league of MBDA Meteor and AMRAAM-D if and when it enters production. Thus, an excellent partner to the A-Darter, which will stand alongside IRIS-T and AIM-9X.

Bingo!!!! I was wondering why JF17 is looking different in its Farnborough arrival pics and videos!
Now I got the reason.
Its looking much more solid, and I must say that it will steal the show ---InshaAllah.

Hi,

I guess, JF17s are painted that way because in this color scheme JF17 is looking much more mature than before. The main purpose of participation is to market it and thus mature look fulfills the purpose best.

Compare JF17's color scheme with Eurofighter's color that arrived at farnborough.

I also wanted to see JF17 in fancy color but professionals involved in marketing JF17 has other ideas.

Excellent Analysis....the only thing missing IMO is a more powerful engine....once thunder got this.....you never know:sniper::sniper::sniper:

JF-17 to represent Pakistan in UK air show

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: JF-17, the fighter jet developed indigenously by Pakistan with help from China, will make its maiden appearance at an international show being held in the United Kingdom.

In line to make an appearance in Farnborough Air Show 2010 being held from July 19-25, two JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force flew to the UK from a PAF base. These aircraft are manufactured at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.

The JF-17s will be displayed for the first time at the Farnborough Air Show alongside other modern aircraft of the world. The JF-17 Thunder distinguishes PAF as the only air force in the world that manufactures combat aircraft.

It is an all-weather, multi-role, combat aircraft that has the potential to be the mainstay of any modern air force. app
