Sir! You are requested to please elaborate highlighted words...!

Normally, fighter aircraft are produced by either private run organizations, like Lockheed Martin, Boeing etc etc, or govt run organizations, employing civil work force and the arcraft are then presented to the respective air force.

But in JF-17s case, it is being manufactured at PAC, which is run by PAF and as you can see in video clips, uniformed technicians of PAF are working on the JF-17s, thus JF-17 has the distinction of an aircraft which is built by the airforce itself for its use.

ISLAMABAD: JF-17, the fighter jet developed indigenously by Pakistan with help from China, will make its maiden appearance at an international show being held in the United Kingdom.

In line to make an appearance in Farnborough Air Show 2010 being held from July 19-25, two JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force flew to the UK from a PAF base. These aircraft are manufactured at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.

The JF-17s will be displayed for the first time at the Farnborough Air Show alongside other modern aircraft of the world. The JF-17 Thunder distinguishes PAF as the only air force in the world that manufactures combat aircraft.

It is an all-weather, multi-role, combat aircraft that has the potential to be the mainstay of any modern air force. app[/QUOTE]

Hi,

Pakistan millitary is SUPPOSEDLY the only millitary that produces all of its stuff---right down from bullets, rifles, tanks and now aircraft ( maybe brazil ).

The reason is not that the millitary has such a unique resource----the fact is that the civilian engineering sector is living in a different time zone, which neither has quality control, nor millitary standard reliability, nor research of any kind, no qualified engineers----bottomline is that the private sector has no money and no funding and is not considered reliable by the armed forces for what it needs.

For that reason the pak millitary had to become an engineering enterprise---that was the only way that it could keep upto date, manufacture a reliable product with a reasonable cost factor, offer welfare to the retired millitary personale by offering them jobs in the related fields and use their experties and millitary discipline---end result in lower production costs and higher standards of quality overall.:pakistan:

I disagree.. Im working with a civilian firm designing management systems for BTS sites.. and another firm developing products for the armed forces.. and rest assured.. our QC's are ISO rated.

Civilian firms aren't allowed too much of a breakthrough since most contracts go to companies run by ex-military personnel and they issue foreign tenders.
The only exception are the UAV manufacturers such as IDS and Satuma which too are ignored due to nepotism, kickbacks and sheer stupidity by the procurement decision makers.

The reason why Pakistan has to have its military involved in Arms manufacturing is because very few civilians want to make the investment in a market where no competition laws seem to apply.
Daud Armories in Peshawar is an exception, they manufacture everything from sounding pistols to Mk-82's.

I dont know whether someone has posted it or not....but here are the detailed modifications to JF-17
J-F 17 THUNDER
DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS

* JF-17 Thunder is a light weight all weather multi-role fighter aircraft jointly developed by China and Pakistan
* JF-17 Thunder is the new approved name of the Super-7 (Chao Qi) aircraft. This name depicts true character of the modern aircraft and will surely give a new color to the image it carried earlier
* Chinese have named their version of this aircraft as FC-1, which is the first fighter aircraft totally designed and developed in China
* FC-1 on entry to PLAAF might carry the J-9 designation
* The aircraft has been designed to have high performance at low cost. Surely, this feature would have world-wide attraction. Pakistan would benefit from its sale to other countries
* Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute (CADI) designed the aircraft and prototyped at Chengdu aircraft Industry Company (CAC), both based in Sichuan Province. CAC is the second-largest fighter production base of China
* The aircraft will have an edge over its contemporary aircraft particularly Indian light combat aircraft (LCA) in its cost, early availability and supportability
* The aircraft has been developed in record time when airframe development was de-linked from avionics

From what I have observed, the Pakistani private sector is aiming to develop subsystems for use on end-products, such as aircraft, missiles, etc. Production of avionics, electronic warfare/countermeasures suites, seekers, fuses, etc, is well within the scope and capacity of our private industry. They have both the expertise, experience and capabilities to pursue such programs - especially in relation to JF-17, Burraq, Ra'ad, ZDK03, etc. In the next few years, we'll definitely see this sort of input by the private sector.

according to my information jf 17 is a best project.it is a multi role fighter of 3rd generation but according to avoinics and bvr capibility it is apart of 4th generation and i hope that paf is trying to make AESA radar and inshallah in 2015 the world will see the jf 17 as a marvellous 4.5th generation fighter and world will see that no country will buy f 16, taifone, or m2k or any other expensive fighter because in this price it can buy several jf 17 4.5th generation fighters and those countries who have already such f 16, m2k or taifone would certainly think about to buy new planes in such low price. I congrat the whole nation for the jf 17 taking part in the uk air show and i pray to ALLAH that wherever our paf takes part in such shows for all his very bllessings upon it. colour doesnt matter but the ability of man proves the existence of such golden nation.

very very thanks for ur new information about ws 13. it is another atombomb for our enemies.

MOF
Technically PAC, POF, HIT etc. have a reporting line directly to MOD rather than the PAF so atleast on paper these are independent entities however in reality these organizations are dominated by the respective service as all of the senior management is from active service and on deputation so they know who the real boss is.
