so when we are receiving further thunders from china and pac??

They are being received as we speak. Its an ongoing process.

China delivers probably 3-4 airframes per quarter, which then get the final assembly at PAC.

Hopefully by now, 20 or so JF-17s, 14 of them in the initial Sqd and rest 6 or so which are PAC built as well as Chinese ones are at different stages of test flights before formal induction.

May be the induction numbers have gone up the 14 figure.

thats good but why dont china make delivery of complete manufactured thunders why these are coming in parts half are being manufactured in Pakistan and china why not china at once produced 30-40 thunders and deliver them to pakistan at once. ?

China has no problem is providing complete JF-17, but i believe PAC wants to get as much experience as possible, so that is why it gets them in disassembled kits and then assembles them at PAC. If you remember the first

Plus, no one gives dozens of fighters all at once, unless it is a war situation, as with slow induction, the inducting air force has to absorb the technology and has to train pilots also. So if PAF gets 20-30 aircraft at ones, it will have no human resource which will include pilots as well as the technicians, so with slow induction PAF will train pilots as well as technicians will get trained.

Hi, AFM mentioned that the PAF signed a contract for the supply of 42 JF-17s, with 40 to be assembled in Pakistan. The first one assembled and delivered to the PAF in November 2009 had 20% of its parts made in Pakistan. By 2012 when the 42nd one is deliverd by Kamra, it will have 58% of its contents made in Pakistan, with a higher proportion of avionics made in Pakistan. It takes time to absorb all of this technology, set up the manufacturing base, getting over the learning curve, and moreover getting the human resources trained.

If you have watched the video of the first JF-17 manufactured in Kamra, you will also notice that there were a lot of technicians from China directing the Kamra staff in the assembly. Thanks!

Hi, sorry for the confusion. AFM= Air Forces Monthly. It was the January 2010 Issue. The article was called "First Pakistani Built JF-17 Rolled Out", by Alan Warnes. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the good information Taimi, I was also curious about how these aircraft are delivered and what's the whole procedure. Thanks for the useful information.

yes u are right but the thing which worries me is the pace at which thunders are being inducting as paf needs to get modernized as soon as possible but so far we have around 12-14 thunders and those are primarily bombers we dont knw their combat effectiveness. so am just curious abt it.

The whole project is well on its way and we are inducting, assembling enough aircrafts that are sufficient for our current capabilities. No need for too much hurry as so far the only delay came was in 2008 and that too because of our financial crunch. Two squadrons this year are not a far fetched number brother. At the moment, 3 aircraft are already in PAC and soon to be added in PAF.
