New Info on JFT by Pshamim

News is trickling out slowly on JF-17s.

1. Kamra may complete the production of all the 42 units by the end of this year.
2. Work on the production of the 2nd lot of 50 starting next year should start next year. A contract with China has been signed but the technical aspects have not been finalized and are still awaited from PAF.
3. Several countries are reported to have sent their pilots to conduct flight tests.
4. Venezuela is in the forefront in conducting negoriations.
5. Argentine is also negotiating.
6. It is reported that one JF-17 was airlifted to Argentina for testing in Argentina.
7. Several other countries are in discussion as well. Each country has different requirements including the funding.
8. Catic is negotiating with the Chinese government to offer its customers low-cost loans for the purchase of aircraft. In addition, they are willing to help them establish an assembly line to produce the aircraft or its components

No news on the Dual. But the 2nd 50 may have the IRST, a higher engine thrust(?) (poster's note: Likely RD-33MK) and some added stealthiness. We will have to wait for a little while longer before PAF finalizes details.

Believe that SD-10 (PL-12) will be a standard weapon on Thunders. C-802 may be integrated with mission specific JF-17 (Poster's Note: Hinting Naval JFT)

An after thought, why we still designate Thunder as JF-17 which was supposed to have Western avionics and weapons. When this aircraft is still all Chinese why do we designate as JF-17 or anything produced in China will be called FC-1 and JF-17 is Pak produced.

You see F16 having huge elevators. It needs them cause it uses them to roll and without ailerons you do need some momentum... The JF17 has the conventional ailerons and does not use elevators to roll. But the tip of the JF17 is kind of angled... That has relationship with the vortices at the end of the wing which does make the impact zero at 1/5th end part of the wing. You see the same on many planes were ailerons end before the end of the wing. That last part it does not make any difference what the ailerons do. There is no control there. So with this angled part the JF17 eliminated the less controlled area of the elevator.

The F-16 design employs a cropped-delta planform incorporating wing-fuselage blending and forebody vortex-control strakes--
jf17-mid-mounted wings are of cropped-delta planform. Near the wing root are convex strakes, also called leading edge root extensions, which generate a vortex that has the effect of providing more lift to the wing at high angles of attack encountered during combat manoeuvres.
