Mach-2 is surely possible. The only issue is the engine power and the penalty caused when DSI lose their effectiveness above Mach 1.8. If JF-17 is testing smaller fuel tanks then it hints towards an engine change that would allow it to operate with greater efficiency (need less fuel) and more power, so that the aircraft may dash at higher speed. In this case smaller fuel tanks can help with minimizing drag.
Apart from the sharp nose, all else shows it to be a fuel tank. But such a small fuel tank? Could it be that JF-17 is being tested to launch munitions that are rather heavy and therefore minimal fuel is being used. In this case two munitions are being considered on inner wing stations. Is it possible to load 2x Ra'ad ALCM on inner wing stations?
Of the two scenarios above, I think the second is more likely. Else, it could be that the attached 'fuel tank' is being used to approximate aerodynamic of some attachment that we know nothing about.
Brother these pictures have already been posted and discussed on PDF last year or maybe earlier than that if I am not wrong.JF-17 undergoing tests with new fuel tanks designed for Mach-2 Regime.
I was also under the impression that i have come across some of these before but the guy who shared them insisted that they are current.Brother these pictures have already been posted and discussed on PDF last year or maybe earlier than that if I am not wrong.
Everything that's on Facebook isn't new.
Miss those days when you posted exclusive and cool stuff.
Yes there was a parade at shahbazI was also under the impression that i have come across some of these before but the guy who shared them insisted that they are current.
As for Shahbaz, it's odd that i was informed by the PA that the person i wanted to speak to was busy in a ceremony taking place at the base.
On topic, the tanks may be smaller in size but they look similar to those carried by the F-7s.
The hyperbole of fanboys never seizes to amaze me. These are just supersonic tanks, that's it. Thank God people aren't saying this is a new "meezaail".
Strange never saw any prade activities in shahbazYes there was a parade at shahbaz
My rough guess is 20 operational squadrons.

Old drop tanks compared to the new under trials.

It is just a supersonic fuel tank. PAC has been making these for other aircraft for a long time. You can even see some old ones being used as water tanks for small homes in Kamra lol.
