JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

After some search for updates on the fighter we find the following:

1) The engine:

20111014_5pic.jpg

The use of the new Chinese engine WS-13 with a greater thrust of up to 22 thousand pounds, but the reliability of the engine is not known in terms of time and faults, but it is Pakistan's choice unless the Russians agree to release the new version of the engine RD- 93 pushing 24,000 pounds with a known level of reliability.

The use of the engine with greater momentum and greater improvement in the use of composite materials in the construction of the structure resulting from the rapid development of China in the use of those materials in the construction of the fifth generation fighters, give the JF-17 III fighter high-speed to mach2 and increase the load to parallel the load of American Falcon fighters according to the Pakistanis..

2) The Radar:

The third block of Thunder will use one of the two radars:

1 - KLJ-7A from the Nanjing Institute of Electronics Technology Research which is an AESA Long Distance Radar with range reaching 170 km against fighters with radar signature 3 m2 while aviation experts and radar testers say it is a default range for the worst conditions while able to monitor fighter jets beyond 200 km but the number is confidential and can not be announced accurately.

2 - LKF601E is produced by the Liho Electronics Research Institute. Pakistan and KATK are strongly pushing for this radar thanks to its unique air cooling system, ease of installation, maintenance and replacement of radars on the old blocks of Thunder aircraft and its outstanding performance, which is not less than The KLJ-7A radar..

Any of these two radars will provide better surveillance, tracking and combat capability beyond the range of vision, electronic jamming resistance, and radar concealment from enemy fighters..

3) The body:

The third block saw a greater increase in the use of composite materials as a result of China's steady development in the use of these materials in the fifth-generation fighters, resulting in a lighter body weight for the new engine, which saw a rise in momentum both in the Chinese engine and the Russian engine if allowed to Pakistan. The size of the hull, a larger fuel tank, and a larger load of weapons for the weapons suspension points Pakistanis say are similar to the Block-52 Falcon.

4) Aviation electronics and electronic warfare systems:

The third block of the fighter Thunder saw the use of a new system of aviation with three-channel fly-by-wire, the integration of monitoring radar and optical sensors distributed on the hull of the aircraft, integrated electronic warfare systems which allowed full display on the pilot's helmet for situational awareness with ease of dealing with the enemy without losing attention and the possibility of launching missiles using helmets, improved networking capabilities, and the transfer and exchange of information with various ground, air and naval platforms..

5) Armaments and ammunition:

The fighter has seen a significant improvement in the level of armament, especially in the context of the air-to-air combat, where these air-to-air missiles were tested and integrated:

a- The PL-15 is an active air-to-air missile with an active radar system with a range of 200-300 km. The Chinese consider it a response to the European Meteor missile..

b- The PL-12D is also an active radar air-to-air missile with 160-km range..

The fighter is also open to the integration of all ammunition, weapons, Chinese shells, small-diameter missiles, Chinese and Russian cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles with their variety and differences.

* Pakistan produced 50 first block fighters and 50 second block fighter jets, and another 14 from the second block requested due to the delay of the third block to 2019, in order not to stop the production line of the fighter in Pakistan. It has 114 aircraft and China allowed it to develop the first and second blocks with the new radar and providing it with updated systems and electronics, and it will not take long to develop and upgrade them..

6) The price:

The price of the second block of the thunder is 25 million dollars and with the new improvements, the price of the third block is expected to rise to as much as 30 million dollars according to the equipment. Pakistan signed a contract for 50 fighters from the third block. The first batch will be produced in China, then 58% of the hull will be made in Pakistan and other components will be produced in China and supplied to Pakistan to complete the assembly..

7) Countries that have requested the JF-17 III fighter:

1- - Egypt wants to buy a large number of them to replace the old Chinese fighter jets; the J6 and J7 the Chinese version of the MIG 21
2 - Malaysia, which requested to contract the fighter about a month ago
3 - Iran, which is suffering from the ban on the export of offensive weapons to it has asked China to obtain it and it is not known the extent of China's approval

Do you know how many Egypt will procure and if you don't could you try to guess?

Egypt has something like 100 old fighters to replace..50 thunders III might be enough due modern tech capabilities and weapons capacities.. might be more though..

https://militarywatchmagazine.com/a...an-air-force-shows-interest-in-large-purchase

it seems to be an old news ... anyways .... does block III have some design changes ???? or it will look like a single seater aircraft similar to JF-17B????

It is 3 months old news..

They still not confirmed but Egypt is still potential buyer @Philip the Arab
Yeah, that's what I meant. It is fairly likely they will buy JF-17 in my opinion as most of their recent purchases are not Mig-21 replacements and have dedicated roles.

Jordanian sources say Jordan is buying new fighters from other countries besides the west. Maybe JF-17?

Egypt has a few options Like J-10/ Korean F/A 50, Grippen etc etc but JFT has more chance than other options @Philip the Arab

Allah ka shukar hai from scratch to now being able to export our home grown fight aircraft, we have come a long way and InshaAllah we will one day (hopefully during my life span) be able to come up with a 100% home made aircraft :)
InshaAllah bro @baqai

This jet is going to out do the F-16V and yet fly like one. PAF will be lethal in it!

JF-17 Block I and Block II aircraft, of which the PAF operates around 85 in total as of March 2019, have been fitted with NRIET’s older KLJ-7 X-band fire control radar. All three JF-17 variants are powered by a Chinese license-built Klimov RD-93 (an RD-33 derivative) turbofan engine.
Matlab kuch bhi likho gey ab :pissed:
