JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

Position of the rear hemisphere MAW to a better location. The fuselage would have blocked a large portion of the field of view of the sensor at the base of the vertical fin vs the top.
Some of the antennas on the spine have swapped locations and there is a small intake on the base as well. No other changes are visible aside from the HUD and the front facing MAW. Intake difference will require more pictures to be sure.

Just created this to highlight the differences

So Guys a question? Since Changes are not seen Externally significant, so can we say we can easily and sooner upgrade all our Thunders to Block III standard?

interesting question... i wont say soon the changes will be brought in block 2s
logically , new production line will have block 3 configuration, then block 1s will be slowly converted to block 3 standard during overhual of aircrafts when more composites will be used.

I like how all the fans are crying as if their favorite couple in a book or a Tv show broke up. This is a fighter jet children, not a love story.
it has been designed by experts and professionals, not fanboys who stick want to stick everything on a jet that they think is cool. Leave the actual work to the professionals. Don’t be armchair experts. An upgrade or a new block isn’t just sticking a bunch of upgrades on a jet. People are basically mad that block 3 isn’t an entirely new jet from block 2, but sadly that’s not how it works, there’s so many other factors apart from tech involved like money, feasibility, availability, compatibility and so on. By peoples logic “where’s this and where’s that” the PAF should just order F22 raptors and F35 lightings since they have everything on them. Sheesh.

Swept Tail was expected as B3 is based on dual seater.

I don't want to offend anyone ... No it was not! It was expected by some fan-boys, which forgot that the new tail was added due to the new front section. As such with still being a single seater, there was no nead - and even more quite to the contrary - no reason for the swept tail.

But as I expected - and it is not to mock anyone: I said since months, all fans will be disappointed, who expected a semi-stealthy larger, wider, bigger, and so on aircraft. It is more or less the same and the changes are mostly under the skin.

Hmm... but why did they went back to old design after introducing slanted vertical fin in Bravo?
