JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

A sovereign economy cannot stand w/o a strong army.

COAS once said:

‘a strong army needs a sovereign economy’

China military industrial complex is the most profitable industry anywhere. They dont need investment. CATIC is now investing in civil aviation, bio-diversible fuels, support&maintenance all across the globe. Dividents of investment five decades ago.

In 1980's, China basically gave up investing in military hardware.

But 1980s is the really hard time to PLA and China military industry.

And even in 1990s, the chief designer of J-10 once had to sell noodles...

According to source only 1 prototype will have AESA radar.. Production of block 3 will starts in between 2 to 3 years... Let see
Do not believe what you are told. There is a lot more going on. I remember in the 90 a grp Captain telling me they were testing some new weapons and they would even ask him to get out of the area. So for secret stuff it is need to know only.

Can JF-17 be fitted with a TVC?
what are the benefits of it?
can someone shed some light on this please...
Thank you.

TVC was beneficial in dogfights. In era of BVR its disadvantages outweighs its advantages.
TVC is garbage , gas guzzler . Only good for acrobat. Hardly any AF has adopted this tech. Even Russian develop this tech in 80s. May be good for ground attack , but not good for air combat, when anti air missile chasing the plane over the speed of 2 mach.... non pilot would make a mistake to reduce the speed of plane and take steep turn and increase the thrust ....

then why PLAAF added TVC to J10C...for acrobats?

There choice, we don't follow others ... they have money they can do whatever they like. Did you watch the inteview about PAF acedemy standards... PAF second to US in combat training . May be some people feel little offended.but PAF is way ahead then Chinese AF in training and adoption of latest tech.
Its old AIM 9x ... test , do you think reducing plane speed would be wise ..

Stealth Shootout: In 1999, a U.S. Air Force F-117 Was Shot Down. Here's How it Went Down.
The F-117 shootdown was an embarrassing, though fortunately non-fatal, episode for the U.S. Air Force. It has been endlessly cited since as ‘proof’ that supposedly radar-invisible stealth planes could ‘easily’ be shot down by even dated Soviet-era SAM systems.
