What's new

'Jawaharlal, do you want Kashmir, or do you want to give it away?'

You can not compare a Prime Minister's work with that of a Home Minister. Particularly when the Home Minister is advising the Prime Minister on country's foreign policy instead of internal affairs. Either the Home minister was not doing his own work or he wanted to become the Foreign Minister.

Its not about what Ministries they held, but about what WORK they did and what LEGACY they left behind.

That is what EARNS you respect.

Today Sardar Patel earns more Respect than Nehru. That is the true measure of Leadership.

BTW Sardar Patels comments were not unsolicited. If he commented, it is because he was asked to share his opinion after being asked to study the situation.

Nehru was Mahatma Gandhi's disciple was an idealist to the core tended to favor principles over considerations.

In the unscrupulous world of today , such a person would indeed seem naive. He made some big mistakes in his political career which continue to plague India to this day e.g.taking Kashmir issue to UN instead of solving it bilaterally.

Accepting Tibet as part of China hoping Chinese would would honour their Panchsheel agreements.

Thinking India has not a need for a strong armed forces, India's non aggressive design towards it neighbours were enough to secure Indian borders.

Giving away more than 80 percent of Indus water to Pakistan in addition to millions of dollars to build dams in Pakistan

Ironically his daughter was exactly the opposite a firm believer of realpolitik, unscrupulous and shrewd politician/diplomat India has ever had.

Nehru was not even supposed to become the PM of India, it was supposed to be Patel. 14 out of 15 Congress board members who were going to vote for the PM of India, voted for Patel, while only 1 voted for Mehru. It was Gandhi who convinced Patel to do the ultimate sacrifice and convinced Patel (to the detriment of our whole nation) to give up his claim on PM seat for Nehru.

So tell us again who in your opinion is an 'Idealist' ?

One who gives up his position even after being unanimously nominated for it, or the one who is unscrupulous enough to usurp the position of PM by 'recommendation' ?

One who's daughter died in poverty and alone or one who's daughter learnt ethics and morality at her fathers foot and created a corrupt dynasty that looted India ?

One who stood by his family but did not help anyone to ride on his reputation or the one who nominated his family members to all high positions in the government and abandoned his wife ?

Tell us again who was the 'Idealist' ...... Sardar Patel or was it Nehru ? ? ?

From the princely states of Alwar, Kapurthala, Patiala and Punjab. I stated it in my post.

This is Jammu and Kashmir we are talking about. You are trying to say that Sikh rioters from the plains of Punjab went all the way to Jammu and Kashmir in order to kill Muslims. This is an unsubstantiated lie. First of all, even the Indian army had to be air lifted to J&K, then how did Sikh rioters go their? You can't blame all of 1947 violence in the country on a small community.

Nehru's remit was far greater than patels, hence he had to think of everything. Patel was not a PM material, he was more of a bully.. perfect for HM role. :)

does the same thought apply to Rajnath and NaMO in BJP?

I was thinking Rajnath for PM and NaMO for HMs role...
well thatis not possible if anything like NaMo wont be PM then from BJP i guess it will be Arun jaiyley cause thats my Info by my very own chiria or if its not from BJP then we might see a sardar become PM and yes it wont be MMS

There is a German world called realpolitik which means politics or diplomacy based on practical and material considerations and
opposite of this word is ideal politics which means politics or diplomacy based on ideal and moral notions.
Nehru was the latter that does not mean his way of doing his job is a reflection of his lifestyle.A true idealist would left politics all together and join Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati ashram ..but then who would run the country?

Nehru, the assho**** which should never have been our PM :hitwall:
he was a drunkurd and a womeniser my dad had once known a person who was in relation to nehru's one close aid he had many colourfull ond often disgusting stories to tell aboout so calle "chacha nehru"
