Japan's Growing Naval Power: Japan building more Atago Class GM Destroyers

you realize Japan has one if the biggest and most advanced fleet of ASW aircraft
not to mention its own increasing fleet of modern submarines.

Japan's ASW is only available to serve the USN.

Without the USN, the JMSDF cannot play this alone.

Not mentioned that the AIP subs cannot fight the nuclear subs in the deep ocean no matter how advanced it is.

.
Only the USN has the true blue water navy capability in the modern world. So if you wanna have a true blue water navy, then you have to build at least 2/3 of their naval power.

We don't desire to compare with the United States Navy, nor do we have designs to have such an interventionist-designed military like the United States. The Japanese Self Defense Forces are -- designed -- to protect Japanese overseas interests and core interests. Whether you or others may not see us as a 'blue water' navy does not affect our policies and our developments. As it stands, we have 5 light carriers, and 6th one soon to be inducted to the Japanese Navy. Our surface fleet will soon exceed over 67 combat ships, with 16 and soon to be 22 sub force that is the top of its class. Tho we do not talk much or reveal much on our full strength, our navy is more than double the size than the Royal Navy and many other European navies combined. Not to mention our measly defense budget (which is already at $50 billion per annum) is less than 0.9% of our GDP. If we so desired to raise it to 2-3 %, we can easily have a defense budget of $150 Billion per annum. But we do not desire to. We are confident of our abilities , and our ability to exterminate any threats if we so desired.

We do not have to prove or validate ourselves to any power. So , if you believe we are weak, then, let we are weak.

Regards,

They have been playing the games and roles dedicated to hunt Soviet Nuclear Submarine fleets in their heyday, and this capability still growing and matured until now.

Otherwise, there is no reason to change your constitution.

No. You clearly do not know much about the JMSDF, but that is fine, because you do not have experience with the JMSDF or our activities around the world. We are allied and cooperate with the United States Navy, synergistic we both can take on any power in this world. True.

But besides on joint operations in the Pacific, Persian Gulf, Mediterranean, and the IOR, we have an independent policy and a naval doctrine that serves primarily Japan's interests.

LMAO, have they hunted down any Soviet nuclear sub so far?

Without the air superiority provided by the USN, where do you think those slow moving anti-sub aircrafts can go?

Without the USN, your current JMSDF has no any offensive capability to fight other major naval powers.

What takes you to sink other nation's warships? Only with your 120-150km Harpoon anti-ship missiles?

Our constitution allows us to raise the defense budget up to 3-5% , if we so desired to. That means, if we want to, we can raise our defense budget to as much as $250 Billion per annum. If we desired to. But why do we want to do that? We are quite confident of our abilities even with our meager defense budget, which is less than 0.9% of the Japanese GDP.

They have been contained them so far, including Soviet strategic bomber fleet.

In ASW games, no countries in Asia can beat them

Because the US is still there, so forget about being an independent nation with the sovereignty.

Their ASW capability was provided by the US.

Without the US support, their ASW capability is practically null.

BTW, do you truly think that the JMSDF alone can fight PLAN or Russian navy without the US support?

with close to 100 such aircraft and 20 + advanced subs they can
not to mention AIP and nuclear subs each have their own advantage
as for depth you should look into it
because nuclear subs only hold a slightly bigger advantage than AIP subs in that field

again what? Japan right now is procuring its own ASW aircraft that are similar to P-8
so what does it have to do with US?

and yes they can.

.

Well, the air superiority of the aircraft carrier or the destroyer/nuclear sub to equip with the lethal anti-ship missiles are the real offensive naval capability.

All the avionics are derived from the US technology, do you think it has nothing to do with the US?

Which Japanese weapon has no relation with the US?

Do you think those big toys such as Kongo and Atago have nothing to do with the US?

100 such aircrafts would make little difference if you don't have the air superiority.

Again, only 7 of those subs are Soryu.

And here is the core technology for Soryu.
