It would be criminal of Chinese scientists if they could build this machine and didn't do it just out of niceties of being fair to their rivals. You defend your nation first, just like - sab se pehle Pakistan.

They had earlier modified su-27 & named it j-11
now they have modified su-30 & named it j-15.....

Reverse-engineering/copying is the intermediate stage before one produces its own and it is a proven approach for the rapid-learning and realization. Just imagine everything is reproduced by China on its own without being given any technical documents. One may argue its not ethical but in love and war everything is legal + its a great milestone and a very potent potential that not everybody possesses.

Just imagine if someday we would shoot down few Predators then we would know who is the guy who makes more like them

Yup, still the AL-31's, I think they've still got some extras from the license production Su-27's. It's a good idea to use a highly tested engine to test new designs, the J-10B's being tested use them as well.
