Italy warns India of European response to marines trial

Another issue must also be noted, these marines came back to India voluntarily, when they really didn't have to.

Still, whether India chooses to punish them to the fullest extent of the law is up to them and Italy has no say in the matter anymore.

I do have to point out though, the Italians aren't actually against the trial itself, they're against the anti-piracy laws being used to charge the marines; it's basically saying the marines are terrorists is what the Italians are accusing the Indians of trying to do.

No sir, these marines refused to come back after they were allowed to go back to Italy on bail. India threatened to arrest the Ambassador of Italy and Italy had to send them back to face the trial. The delay in trial was because Italy refused to cooperate in the trial. Voice and navigational data on the ship was destroyed, the crew refused to cooperate with the police.

Truth is that NATO has been increasing it's presence in the Indian Ocean under the garb of "Anti Piracy" operations. And India wants to send a clear message to them. Recently a US ship laden with illegal weapons was caught by our coast guard. Such incidences must be taken seriously by all Asian countries. We know what happened when Europe took control of the trade routes during the 17th century.

German ambassador in india also said, that germany supports italy 100%. The EU as well as NATO needs Italy in the mission Atalanta. I think we do not need to discuss anything here.

The Supreme Court will give its judgement on 18-Feb. The SC is not affected by outside influence, so its all in hands of SC.

Italian statement is for domestic consumption. All Italy can do right now is to wait for SC decision.

It makes more sense to make noise if the SC allows prosecution under NIA. Right now Italy is just wasting everyone's time.

Indian court lifts travel ban on Italian ambassador after marines' return

The US ship laden with weapons entered our waters without proper permission. It even refuelled illegally. There is a reason behind this madness. If we do not stop the encroachment into our territory, it has potential of becoming a bigger problem for us tomorrow. They must learn to respect Indian laws when they are inside Indian territory. Italian soldiers are not super-humans, if they break law, murder people they must be punished like any other person.

Those fisherman reacted to no warning and did speed towards our oiltanker. They died because their own stupidity. Beside that, our marines are free. They work in our embassy, go party in nightclubs and so on.
