What's new

It is official, now the Type 094 boomers are patrolling with JL-2 SLBM

Range is obviously highest priority, but noisy means american ssns like seawolf can easily track these subs.Thye used to do the same to delta class during cold war.Typhhon was difficult because it was waay quiter and hid under arctic ice cap where los angles class couldn't go.Thatsa why seawolf was built,to have powerful enough stern to break the ice and track and hunt typhhons under arctic cap.

The flexibility of the missile launch is very important, when you can launch your solid fuel SLBMs at any moment, then it will be in vain for the Sea Wolf class to get your SSBNs. :coffee:

The liquid fuel SLBM, on the other hand, will take too much time to be prepared to launch, thus it will be vunerable as the Sea Wolf will hunt down the boomer before it can launch those SLBMs. :coffee:

Before the Borei class being mass produced, the Delta IV will still remain as the main boomers for Russia.

When your boomers are launching the SLBMs at the safe territorial water, then the range of the SLBM is more important than the noise level. :coffee:

Its already being mass produced, three have been build so far, and one is under construction and this year we will lay down two more, the days absolute of US navy superiority are over Thank god.:)

Sorry, i meant the Borei class being mass commissioned, which means up to 6 boats or more. :coffee:

USN still has 14 Ohio class boomers, and it carries a total of 336 Trident II missiles.

Each Trident II missile weighs 58.5 tons, still arguably the most powerful SLBM.

Thats silly, ssbn can't launch missiles if its destroyed by ssn, with its missiles or torpedos.Thats why it needs to be quiet so it can't be tracked by enemy ssns. And protected by other assets in 'ssbn bastions'.Plus another submarine itself to guard the ssbn. This is what russia did to stop usn ssns from hunting and killing their nosiy ssbns.Except typhoons which operated under arctic cap delta subs operated from ssbn bastions close to shore where they would be less vulnerable to enemy ssns.
Of course to create SSBNs bastions u need strong naval assets and good patrol aircarft with excellent sonar and sensors.
The noise is why bulk of chinese nuclear force is still land based while in usa bulk is sea based.Chinese road mobile and rail mobile missiles are much more difficult to track currently.

That uneven hunchback would make it very noisy,Same problem shared by russian delta class SSBNs,why russia replaced both typhhon[oversized] and delta[noisy] with borei.China's next ssbn should be smooth.

That's expected of the next class. A lot of work are directed towards sizing down the SLBMs.

The SSBN will launch its SLBMs in less than 5 minutes, the Seawolf is not an aircraft, do you think it can get the SSBN in less than 5 minutes with a top speed of 35kph? :coffee:

The subs have ASROC anti submarine missiles ,plus torpedos that can easily kill any submarine its sonar can pick up at a large stand off distance of many kilometres.Thats why noise is important to prevent his sensors from tracking u.Sry the sub launched version is called SUBROC.

No, the size of the next gen SLBM would not be scaled down.

The JL-2 actually weighs about 55 tons, which is very close to the 58.5 tons Trident II.

The JL-3 is expected to carry the double amount of MIRVed thermonuclear warheads compared to its predecessor, and the JL-3 is expected to weigh up to 60 tons.

The Type 096 is expected to carry about 16 JL-3/JL-2 and displaces arounds 16000 tons or more.

Then they need to deploy their sub base in Taiwan.

But if Taiwan dares to accept this offer, then China will probably blow Taiwan off immediately since it is a direct threat to China's national security.

Not really SSNs have huge range and endurance, they can easily operate from japan or guam.If your theory was true then chinese subs would be no threat to IOR,but thats not the case SSNs have high endurance due to nuclear reactors.Infact they can even operate from hawaii.

Sure, but China's SSBNs will fire their SLBMs in just few minutes, to operate from Japan will be too far away to get them even with the anti-submarine missiles.

Man ur not getting it,the ssns don't stay in their bases.A number of them are always on sea during patrols and tracking the potential enemy subs just to the outside of their bases even ,they are always on u.This is the type of underwater game that continued throughout whole cold war, there are many documentaries on it.Submariners talking.Thats why number of times soviet and american subs collided lol.

Well, the Seawolf class subs cannot produce less noise level than a modern diesel sub, since most of China's coast are some shallow littoral water, a such large 10000+ tons SSN will be easily get detected.

The Seawolf class is a product of the Cold War, it is designed to hunt down the Delta IV that operates with the liquid fuel Sineva SLBM, which takes several hours for the preparation of launch.

Stop always finding the excuse how China's SSBN sucks and it is useless blahblahblah, you should anticipate how the SSBN of your own country is going to work. :coffee:

First of all i never said submarine sucks.U made that up.i only dsaid it would be more quieter without the hump.
Second seawolf is the quietest submarine ever built, virginia is a less expensive mass produced version of it.It consumed 25% of the american naval budget to build it.
New welding materials have been used to join the hull subsections and the Seawolf class are the first attack submarines to use HY-100 steel rather than the HY-80 used for previous boats. (HY-100 was used in experimental deep-diving submarines during the 1960s). The most important advantage of the Seawolf class design is its exceptional quietness even at high tactical speeds. Whereas most submarines need to keep their speed down to as little as 5 kts to avoid detection by passive sonar arrays, the Seawolf class are credited with being able to cruise at 20 kts and still be impossible to locate.

The US Navy describes the Seawolf as 10 times as quiet as an improved Los Angeles and 70 times as quiet as the original Los Angeles boat: a Seawolf at 25 kts makes less noise than a Los Angeles tied up alongside the pier!

The hump SSBN may not be the most quiet one, but it is necessarily an hyper noisy boomer?

Even the Type 094 has an hump, yet its design seems to be largely improved over those Cold War hump SSBNs with its smooth appearance.

Yeah, China also believes the non-hump SSBN is overall superior, but nevertheless China still makes it as a credible naval nuclear deterrence. Do you think we Chinese are retarded of spending billions to make an extra noisy boomer that can be easily detected by the enemy?

Don't let your hatred against China to cloud your own judgement. And i am refraining to keep the discussion further, since it gonna create more flamebait again.
