Israel cannot destroy a single one of its neighbors outside of the international borders without crippling itself in any non-nuclear war, especially if Americans don't support Israelis. 1973 was a LONG time ago. A very long time ago.
This kind of rhetoric shows an over-confident mindset. Probably even a racist one which thinks that 'natives' are going to be always armed with bows and arrows. Natives may carry guns in future. And they may outnumber you. And, unlike you, they are willing to die in large numbers. General Custer learned it the hard way.

As to why "Americans" support Israel, I think plenty of answers can be found in the brilliant work called 'The Israel Lobby'. Look it up. Suffice it to say, America's own interests are not best served by the blind support of Israel.

I agree with you and I will second that Pakistan also shouldnt join any Mid east conflict but actually work towards defusing the tension. picking the side of the aggressor and a stronger party might bring short term gains but might trigger long term headache (consider a large Indian Muslim population that is far more than many Arab countries combined). And by the way, why should India become yet another unqualified supporter of Israel? is America not doing a good job dutifully? even its own politicians, writers and common citizens are questioning the wisdom over it.

It offers a credible threat to the arab world, and has capabilities to neutralize islamist extremist elements in the region. it is the first wall of resistance, if such elements take control over aforementioned middle eastern territories, and is more than capable of dealing with them.
