Is Turkey a bad model for Arab states? Or is it a good model?

By that logic, Philosophy shouldn't be taught at Universities, especially if Nietzsche's writings deal primarily with the 'Reassessment of Moral Values'.

Both Ethics and Civics are inspired by what is generally accepted as the Collective Morality of the community, why are they, the taught as subjects ?

No being thought about what those philosophies consist of is one thing but he was talking about teaching childrens state founded and supported morals... It is both the right and responsibilty of families to teach their offsprings their morals.

He was talking about Ottoman culture and some religious teaching I actually don't know about. There are religious institutes in Turkey can teach Islamic traditions and we already see Ottoman History in our History classes...

.
Turkey had new and quality school buildings in the rule of AK Party but the content of education is devoid than the moral sciences.. Therefore moral decadence very great in Turkey since 10 years.. In my think the some moral lessons shall be offered as the elective lessons for students.. As example to elective lessons: Hadith, Fiqh, Siyer, Arabic, Ottoman Language, Ottoman Culture, Islamic ethics, Islamic art and Islamic cultural history and in the meantime Alevism and other religions.. This is very important issue.. Otherwise the trend is not good for Turkey..

I think those electives should be perfectly valid at the University level but if you're implying at School level, I think it would be better if you don't, because understanding something as deep as Fiqh, Islamic ethics or other religions, without having developed a critical faculty of mind, could have a less than desired effect, because a student wouldn't be able to appreciate them for what they are.
At the school level, a common subject on civics and ethics, which draws inspiration from a whole range of sources, would be, in my opinion, a good way to go.

Really? Pakistani womens traditional clothes are beautiful... I have o problem people wearing what they want, t is not my job to tell them what they should wear but it s just funny to me a muslim praising pagan tradition...

I actually found Arabian clothes exotic... but to my point of view those clothes symbolized the opression of people... Even to me these phoo is beautiful.

Indeed, but there are a few men and women amongst us who think that dressing up like an Arab is part of faith. Fortunately, these people are a small minority.

That lessons must be elective.. not mandatory.. Everyone shall able to choose the appropriate lessons for own, muslim or nonmuslim..

We have seen what happenes in religion and moral classes at those who do not have the same way of logic with the teacher. I myself was lucy enough to have an open minded teacher who would argue with me on civil levels and respect my thoughts but that is not the case with some, if not most, of the teachers...

Those lesson you have talked about is not just religion but conservitive part of religion, and a person who would go to university to be a teacher of that subject will not be open minded as others.

That lessons will not tell terrorism.. but will tell beauty, humanity, peace and brotherhood.. Don't speak with the mouth of Bush..! I think that you prefer a punk and ox generation the more than a moral generation..

I took a course on Political Science once and according to my teacher, an avid Marxist himself, Communism could do no wrong. The point I'm trying to make is - there is a potential of abuse in everything, but instead of scrapping the subject lets rectify the pedagogic (teaching) principles espoused by the institute or a particular teacher.

My dear sister, want we can aspire to, I know you might go weary of me quoting the same examples, are the institutes of learning in Cordoba where Muslim philosophers routinely engaged in intellectual discussions with Non-Muslims polymaths, where people like Maimonides (a Jew whose contributions to the Talmudic Law are indispensable) found a free playing field to develop his theology, his philosophy and legal opinions.

Being conservitive does not mean terrorrist... It means that you are bound to religion by its every rule.... What Bush and Punk style have to with this... I can't understand you way of logic...

Like I said you can't understand the difference between moral values... What you precived as moral could be a immoral to others...

And finally, how did you came up with punk and I don't even know what ''ox generation'' even means.....

I am not going to argue with you anymore... have a nice day...

Why there is so contradiction about Wearing Burqua in Muslims of different countries itself ?

I have gone through different threads in PDF about discussing whether wearing Burqua is Islamic or Arabic.

Even some members quoted lines from Quran to justify that Burqua wearing is compolsary. If it is written in Quran than why Turks do not follow the same.

No, no you got me wrong. I was not talking about universities... Universities are definition of discrimination.... If a prof is progressive and student is conservitive than student is literally scr+wed and via-verca.

I was talking about prmary and high schools.

The moral lessons shall be for students of middle and high school.. Education must be while a kid.. I don't mean a detailed or academic education.. but it can be as basic..

burqa has nothing to do with Islam. there is NO word in the Quran as far as i know that tells women to wear burqa. it does say that they should cover some parts of their bodies. most Turks use Hijab and also maghribi Arabs to. it is women in extremely conservative arab/asian countries that women dress with burqa. it has more to do with cultural influence and wrong teachings me think!
