Is Turkey a bad model for Arab states? Or is it a good model?

I think all Muslim countries should take Pakistan as an example when we talk about democracy, human rights, minorities rights, women rights, religious freedom, ect..., happy ? Should i add economic plans and policies too ? Whatever makes you happy, Sir!

Agentny17, you don't seem to understanding my point. What I stated wasn't that "Pakistan should be looked as an example", but rather that you said "Turkey should be looked as an example by us Pakistanis, Iranians" etc. Which I totally disagree with.

The Arab world is too far behind Turkey when we talk about democracy, human rights, minorities rights, women rights, religious freedom, ect.. Pakistan, and Iran are far behind too.

True, on paper, but were talking about a democracy model which takes in account all these tenets.

no, in terms of democracy Pakistan is FAR ahead of the Arab countries......political stability? No. But democratic principles of governance (no matter how messy it gets) we are far ahead of them.

Pakistan's politics are more comparable to that of Turkiye's --even though one is a secular republic and the other is officially an Islamic Republic....Turkiye also saw campaign of terrorism, also saw major political violence especially during cold war period; saw its share of transitions between civilians and generals leading the country. Turkiye is stronger now than it ever has been, and I see a much stronger Pakistan in the future provided we elect the right people to lead and implement the right reforms!

Very good post. I am sure the future will be great for you guys, you guys have a lot of potential as a country, hopefully we can all work together... I hope you guys do not think i meant to say any bad thing about Pakistan, or any Muslim countries, because i didn't mean any harm. I just think all of the Muslim countries can and should improve, and we should learn from eachother. All the best wishes for Pakistan, and its great people.

Democracy works in reality? There's rape committed in America every 2 minutes, all their democracy can do is punish the perpetrators but what else? Isnt it the democracy that makes rapes and killing easier to begin with?

Also, look at HIV and AID cases. Pakistan, Iran have one of the lowest in the world. Turkey's AID/HIV case was low before, but now it us rising.

With 'democracy' comes challenges.

Democracy is good, but there should be limits of it for a good society.

what Shari'ah country has ever failed? by the Umayyad era Shari'ah wasn't enforced to its fullest ...Rasoolullah (Saw) original Islamic state and Khilafat e Rashida was the most successful and prosperous governance in history

Like I said democracy prospers, Sharia fails.
People in democratic countries are actually free and happy and thats the only thing that matters.
