Is tide turning finally ? Angry mob sets ablaze house of Lashkar operative in Kashmir

Scary? They happen to apply in droves, for whatever reason you may wish to attribute to said proclivity, what's so scary about that. After all it was a Sikh who was called Hind Di Chadar.:agree:
am not asking for discrimination but surely we need a balance, what if lots of them mutiny against IA for some reason. Dont tell me patriotic bs, we all are humans.
It IS a scary situation to have so many sikhs (and gurkhas) in IA.

True face of the "Brahmin/RSS Army", some people should seriously stop believing each piece of BS they hear and should get real education....

At that rate anyone can mutiny against us, when the Golden temple/Op. Bluestar debacle happened how many Sikh soldiers mutinied, in fact it was an Indian Army officer who also happened to be a Sikh who led the charge. If loyalty is to be gauged by the community the person belongs to then why was LtG. Syed Hasnain given the reigns in Kashmir as GOC XV corps?

Since post independence, IA soldiers have stayed to their oaths no matter what the order was !

What we need now is to get away from the colonial British mentality, and not the other way round!

anybody can mutiny against us, but having fair representation of all communities will make sure we are somehow shielded from the extent it can harm us.
IA should try to reduce over reliance on tradional soldier belt and make it attractive for all Indians.

@hinduguy In fact we had best not recruit too many Tamils too, since the GOI broke any and all links it had with the erstwhile LTTE. We had better not recruit any Maharashtrians, what if one of them takes the MNS's message of uncouth North Indians dominating everything and decides to rebel against us? The list is endless.

It is "attractive" to all those who wish to serve. Its not as if a Sikh soldier gets special privileges, the IA has NOT and WILL NOT put a cap on recruitment on the basis of religion or community. There are many Sikhs in the army because a large number of them apply and from that pool those who meet the requirements are inducted.

I will be very worried if 20 percent of IA are tamils, not the least because of the horrible food our canteens will end up serving.

Well the IA is not worried, and why should it be, its traditions stand tall when it comes to loyalty to the nation and adherence to the orders issued to it by its superiors.

no I mean making conscious effort to recruit from people who are not considered soldiers traditionally. Like army fair, shows, talks in schools etc that attracts young people.
More recruitment rallys in such areas. We give certain concession to gurkhas for physical fitness, same can be extended to non traditional soldiering communities.

That they do anyway, all over the country.

clearly not doing enough, if 20 % are from specific area/community.
IA needs to conscriously break the back of sectarian recruitment system which ensures certain community finds it easier to get recruited just because british thought they make good soldiers.
