Is Azerbaijan getting Su-37?
There are some rumors spreading from several western defence analysts regarding a possible deal between Russia & Azerbaijan for Su-37.
Under the deal Azerbaijan state owned Azad Systems & Russia's Sukhoi expected to jointly develop the Su-37 for Azerbaijani Air Force.
Azerbaijani Su-37 may integrate Israeli systems and avionics as well.
Currently Azad Systems manufactures Israeli-designed spy planes.
Sukhoi Su-37 is a single-seat, super maneuverable multi-role jet fighter, designed by Sukhoi. The Su-37 features an upgraded suite and fire-control system, but its most notable additions are the vectoring nozzles. Only two prototypes were build.
In 2002 a Su-37 prototype crashed during a ferry flight, effectively bringing an end to the programme; the fault was later traced to a software malfunction.
The Su-37 did not reach the production stage.
