You'd be surprised at how many Turks still think that the US is Turkey's "best friend" despite all that. Fvcking place is like an insane asylum filled with morons with worse memory than neglected fish in a teenager's aquarium.

Really but polls in the last decade have shown constant increase on Anti Americanism in Turkey I was under impression even hard core Kemalists hated the US now

They don't, even though some of them ACT that way at times for political reasons. Many Kemalists look at America as their patron and savior from the Islamists/Conservatives/Erdoganists. They don't give a fvck about Turkey's national security, interests, or pride.

I have gripe with Erdognists and Kemalists see both sides of the coin but to see one way I think effects of the cold war mentality stil boga some Turks view of the world

You ain't impressing anyone by saying some dumb shit like "Oh, it's complicated", etc. If it's too hard to pick between two clear, concise, binary choices, then maybe you shouldn't bother. No one likes a nitpicking, indecisive flik-flak. So please just put your foot down and vote.
Wow,old man,why so hostile, did i press the ''wrong'' button again?
You write some sh!t about what the US did wrong to us and expect people to choose, choose what, you made the choice for us.
You cant be that dumb.
It doesnt work that way,you need to write the good the US did for us,then give people a real fvcking choice.
Not this propaganda bs of yours.
Only kids fall for this.
USA all the way!!!:sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic:

Everybody has their own views, and that is ok. However, the attempt to remove the elected government of a country is effectively an act of war. If they think the Americans are still their friends, then they can lie down while the Americans can wipe their boots on them.

Based on Turkey's experiences with the USA, it's very much crystal clear as to what category a patriotic Turk (and pretty much any Muslim) would vote for. I've never understood why anyone would shy away from labeling America a foe unless there's literally an American holding a gun to their head.
So basically anyone who disagrees with you is neither a Turk nor a Muslim, there is a term describing people with your fanatic ideology.

And just to piss you off, USA USA USA :D

For anyone cluless about Turkish politics, before you believe his lies, keep in mind that it was AKP that voted in favor of allowing USA invading Iraq from Turkish soil in 2003, it was kemalist CHP that voted against it in Parliament.

If you don't like the choices, than don't vote. And here's a novel idea: IGNORE THE THREAD. Nobody's putting a gun to your head and forcing you to pick an option you don't agree with.
If you think the US is a friend, lol, then vote for that option and if you also want to, respond to the thread with your reasons for voting so.
It's not fvcking rocket science.

Lies? What part of my post was a lie, exactly? Do tell.

From around the 50's on, all the way to the present time, all the USA did for us is fvck us. Every time Turkey appeared to have "gained" something from our relationship with the Americans, USA gained far more at our expense.

I think a lot of ppl could learn from Henry Kissinger. Not to speak of M.K.A. but this is one of the reasons why secularity and pragmatism is important too many turks gets too emotional about things.

Because of defence sector is developing, we all of a sudden think we can halt the rotation of the world. Grow up.

Also no sane western democratic country will hand over a political criminal based on circumstancial evidence, but they will indite and judge you on circumstantial evidence. (here I am talking about FG, and Halkbank CEO in case you are wondering). Also tbh I think this witch hunt and blaming FETÖ for everything. I doubt any light will ever be shed upon the truth.

If innocent, then FG should have held his longest public speech in best Martin Luther King style, and boarded a plane and landed at Atatürk Airport, saying "I'm innocent and dying, wtf are you going to do with this bag of rags".

fg staying alive just gives akp and rte an excuse to continue the ideological war. "I saw a zaman newspaper in your house, you must be a fg supporting terrorist", "omfg you spoke with this person who is nurcu, you must be a terrorist".

Well, that's how I see Turkey atm, our justice system is not able to process the cases fast enough, possibly many innocent people are in prison and they spend most of their life going back and forth from courthouse to prison just to prove their innocence. And if you are judged innocent from a charge you are slapped a new one just because AKP prosecutors don't have anything better to do.

Just as how USA justice system is built to force people to plead guilty, the turkish system is built to kill ppl in due process. IMO.

We've established Turkeys only friends are Pakistan and Azerbaijan. everyone else is just interests.

I agree but no one's saying Turkey is perfect internally. American justice system processes are equally long. Also, USA, the so-called "land of the free", happens to have 5% of the world population but 22% of the world's prisoners. 80 million Americans have criminal records and I mean FELONY, not misdemeanor, according to the FBI. That's almost 1 in 3 adults. But I digress.

We are discussing whether USA has been more of an ally or an enemy for the people of Turkey.

The U.S is definitely not a friend of Turkey especially when there is a pro Islamic government. They have supported the atheist Kurds against the Turkish people. The U.S supports the Armenians against the Turks. At this present moment in time the Zionists are building an anti Turkish alliance with the Greeks with the full support of the U.S

All very valid points. Thank you.

The USA, like all other Imperialists in the past and present, is like a barrage of tests from Allah-u Azimushshan for the Believers!! These Imperialists, who are like one-eyed Janavar with one teeth and forked tongue, are slaves to their and only their interests!!!

Bottom-line: The USA, by definition, can’t be a bosom friend or a die hard enemy of Turkey. Hence, as suggested in the Kuran-i Kerim, the relationship needs to be extremely business-like

Now, how to get the best out of the USA while filtering out the worst from her, especially for a Muslim country?
  • The moment you take the USA as your ALLY, HELPER, ENABLER etc. you’re dead by definition
  • The Imperialists are mortal rivals to one another. Moreover, guys at the top don’t feel as secured as folks at the bottom. You need to leverage these dynamics to forge out your geo strategies. Fry the fish in its own oil
  • Do good and discard evil as much as possible. If your collective goodness > your collective evil, you survive; otherwise, you’re finished
  • The Imperialists will leverage every weakness, every traitor etc. you have by HIS PERMISSION. Nip the traitors at the bud. The slightest Merhamet you show to the traitors, and you’re dead
  • As for the Imperialists, HE is ENOUGH. When their utility is over, as per HIS PLANS, they are drowned in the Red Sea without leaving any traces whatsoever

Is America really Turkey's FRIEND or ENEMY?

Well, I'm sorry to say that this is not a binary choice.
Turkey's interests may align with America's interests in one part of the world and they may clash in another part: If your interests align in one place, it doesn't mean that you are friends and if they clash, (by the same logic) it doesn't mean that you are enemies.

Supposedly, America is only looking after it's own interests. Now, this might seem selfish and downright aggressive, but in all honesty, this is what it is supposed to be. After-all, every patriotic Turkish citizen should want the government to act in the best interests of their own country. No one should expect the Turkish government to do what a foreign country wants, unless it was also good for their own country.

In Turkey, politics are complicated because some people believe that Erdoğan's priorities might lead Turkey in a direction that is not in it's best interests; while at the same time, other people ask "which country's interests does Kılıçdaroğlu serve".
In America the situation is even worse; foreign policy seems to be decided by the richest and most influential lobbies. America seems to be carrying out foreign policies that are actually detrimental to it's own interests and only beneficial to a privileged few.

As Turkey strives to assert it's legitimate interests in the world, it must remember two things
  • that US foreign policy is unpredictable
  • the US is armed to the teeth

So, is America really Turkey's friend or enemy?........It is neither!!....and it's not supposed to be!
However, America is the biggest DANGER and challenge that Turkey has to face.
