Is alcohol available for pakistani military personnel ? I think it was available until 1960-70's . Is it still available for military personnel ?

officially no - the services clubs were renamed services mess! - and yes all the legacy brands are available if you know the system!

Sunday is an off day in Pakistan now and Friday is half day so you can say yeh damn lucky the government employees and damn unlucky the nation that we spend half of the year in holidays on one or other pretext.

After Zia, people pray openly but drink discreetly!

The so called ban.. flouted by those who are entrusted with leading this country's defense.. Although.. I have no problems with it as long as they do it off duty, but history testifies otherwise.. even our naval chief was drunk while Indian jets pounded our oil storage tanks and their Osa's sunk our ships...
I know of three people who will give first person accounts of him remarking at the burning tanks; "Oh what a lovely bonfire!".

I mean it is rather disgusting,
Do you think to keep you hands of alcohol there is need of government ban, price hikes or anything. Can no one think of it as banned by our religion!!
It is shameful if any one, whether a military man or a civilian is consuming it add call themselves Muslims!

There are few worldwide phobias some are incurable among these the most incurable are

1. ISI phobia

2. Pakistan Army phobia

3. And recently Musharraf phobia has joined the list.

So say my cat got cold blame it on ISI or army


Anyway out of millions of men's army hardly few hundred ( i even doubt this hundred figure) drink and that too privately there is no quota for that in the armed forces here.

Rest in a conservative society like Peshawar or tribal areas you can find alcohol very easily.

And Bhutto's motivation was political expediency to gain the support of jamaatis.

The difference between the secular and the religious is just that, the priority assigned to different values - it became more important for armed forces to outwardly demonstrate a adherence to a religious value instead of focusing on it's core function - what was once peripheral, drinking beer if they wanted to (it was mostly beer anyway, the scotch a given), became central by criminalizing such a personal choice. The result, an outward religious value built on hypocrisy -- was that a net positive? Would we be better off to not try to engineer society to fit ideology? Would the armed forces be more formidable had it focused on it's core function instead of being made a vehicle of ideology?

I guess these will continue to confuse those who refuse to understand that concieving of and building utopia, especially Utopia built on the notion of turning faith into a ideology of political control is an exercise of the depraved.

Alcohol is available for every one in Pakistan in every corner, city or village. imported or local made to desi.

I wonder why it should not be available for military personals!

If you are planning to travel to Pakistan you can bring it along with you or buy it at duty freeshop or order it in your room officialy.

It is banned boss but iam sure if they want somehow they can get there hands on it ! atleast the senior ranks forusre! anyhow lets leave this topic for now! iam no mullah but it is our holy month wana keep it kosher if you know wat i mean! thx
