Is a Secular Pakistan the solution?

Its absolutely unconstitutional and there is absolutely no way to justify this, I too hate to see the Northern Areas walk down this path, such a progressive people are condemning themselves to the same mistake that the people of Punjab and KPK have made in the past and paying a heavy price for.
Why isn't something about this being done ? you have got to be kidding me ? this is so stupid . How can a party like PTI accept this , thought were all in for women's rights and so-so . This is not acceptable .
To be honest with you secular Pakistan is a dream and a dream only , religious parties will go berserk , just thinking about it , talk about implementing it . Long shot .
Yeah, I'd love to share my thoughts on GB as a separate province.
Am doing a little research on it , will post it tomorrow .

Pakistan at the time of Independence should have followed the Turkish model. It is never too late to change course

Everyone silently agreed to this because they don't want to risk being at loggerheads with the conservative elements. Its a long shot but I hope my children will grown up in a better Pakistan than I did.

Build a better Pakistan today so your children can have a better tomorrow , contribute to the society in anyway you can . Have a nice day .

is there any explicit statement of Jinnah which says he wants Pakistan to be a 'secular' country? im still to come across one while i have seen many statements where he talks about the 'principles of islam'

There is a reason behind secularism. Religion has nothing to do with politics. Politics has stained Islam.
Those who say politics have nothing to do with Islam than obviously there knowledge of Islam is worst than Abu Juhal Islam and state are one you can't separate them and Pakistan will never be secular those who will try to betray Islam and make Pakistan secular will be humiliated and defeated

To the best of my knowledge, there is none. However, he did talk about a Pakistan where the followers of all the religions would have full freedom to practice their religion and live their lives as equal citizens of Pakistan. Secularism essentially means the freedom to practice one's religion and in that sense Quid-e-Azam did want a secular Pakistan.

All speeches of Jinah from 1940 till his death should be published enough slap on seculars who lie about what Jinah wanted

in my understanding he never found this to be incompatible with the notion of 'Islamic principles,' Had he wanted to take religion out of the state, he could have simply called for a secular muslim state rather than referring to islamic principles whenever talking about the functioning of the state.

And Jinnah certainly did not want a jaahil mullah-run theology, that is enough a slap to those who claim this.

Islam also says that if you follow Islam properly that is....When they failed to follow Islam which miracle will stop one from corrupting secularism?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as I am aware Islam never allowed corruption which is the base of what is eating Pakistan away....

Nor did it allow feudal system, another parasite which has passed its expiry date!

Islam also never asked people who lack knowledge to be leaders (ex. every of our cleric is)

Now when these 3 are removed it would be close to Islamic but since it never was to begin with how can we be sure that Secularism is the answer? What are we comparing it to?

Those who say politics have nothing to do with Islam than obviously there knowledge of Islam is worst than Abu Juhal Islam and state are one you can't separate them and Pakistan will never be secular those who will try to betray Islam and make Pakistan secular will be humiliated and defeated
That iss a little harsh and not everyone understands the language of the danda....Even according to ALLAH danda comes last....as we can see repeatedly all over the Quran, warnings come first....then attempts to stop ...

When neither has ever been done how can you jump to danda?

Go read his speeches from 1940 till his death what he wanted is clear in that

So if you observe Islamic principles in your everyday life, would you abandon them if you become a minister or somebody in the government? Obviously not. So why would he say that? As I have mentioned, by secular it simply means that follower of all the religions will have full freedom to practice their religion(s) while at the same time live and prosper in a country.

My honest question is how does one change a system that is interconnected with each other on the basis of corruption and bad deeds? I know your bad deeds so you scratch my back and I will hide yours while I scratch your back and you hide mine....

How does one initiate change in such a system? Judiciary is sold off, every MNA , MPA and other ministers ALL look for personal interest over national interest and then we have the jahil who claim to have knowledge of a religion they dont follow

Before we even get to secularism, what Pakistan really needs to do is enforce the laws it already has and effectively collect tax revenue from the population. You do those two things the difference will be night and day, law and order will be addressed and so will economy.

We see the present government going in this direction.
