Rally in UK capital calls for Turkish involvement to expel Daesh from northern Iraqi city

"Iraqis living in the U.K. gathered outside Turkey’s London embassy to back efforts to liberate the city of Mosul from Daesh.

A group of about 30 people, carrying Turkish flags and photographs of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, called on Turkey to intervene directly in an offensive to retake the city.

Mosul and its surrounding regions have been under Daesh occupation since 2014. An operation is expected in the coming weeks.

“We are here to demonstrate our support for Turkey’s stance and will to intervene in the crisis of Mosul,” said Rabee al-Hafidh from the Protect Mosul movement, which organized Sunday’s demonstration.

“This role is vacant and has to be filled by a power that has the will and the capability to do that. Turkey’s intervention and protection of Mosul is crucial,” he added.

Conditions in the Daesh-held city were very poor and life had come to a standstill, he told Anadolu Agency.

“People are skeptical about what’s going to happen. They expect something dramatic is going to befall the city but they have no idea how to get out of the situation,” al-Hafidh said.

The only hope for the people of Mosul is Turkey,” he added.

Turkish troops in northern Iraq have been training local forces on how to fight Daesh.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Thursday that Turkey's military presence in Bashiqa would continue despite the Iraqi parliament mislabeling Turkish troops in the country as “occupiers” earlier this week."

Iraqies want to be liberated by Turks, they are aware that banana state Iraq couldn´t detroy deash:-).

This is not our fight......and we have no business in Musul.
I don't think you are serious, I don't want to :)

That's only London but good choice of place for it. Besides, you can't expect people other than those from Mosul to join a rally in favor of Turkey. Though, I'd help these people and mobilize other Muslim and Turkish communities to support.

And a distant dream for you, bro. Days of Ottomans are long gone, accept it or not.
Did I speak the days of Ottomans anywhere? But you did speak of Misak-ı Milli.

That isn't the point also. The point is "will it belong to anybody accordingly with our interests for another century to come or not?". This great fight of "allied" powers in region, offers us a lot of opportunities that we shouldn't miss. Once we miss it then we will have to still watch and listen and still fight terrorism within our borders for another century to come, God knows what follows with it. Misaki-ı Milli is not an emphasis on the imagination and emotions but a must for Turkish nation.

we have no business in Musul.
That is a dangerous thinking but is yours and respected.

I referenced to Ottoman days, as our prior military might.

If that's the case...first invade northern Iraq...and end the PKK presence.

Rhetoric is fine...but can you give a single solid argument for our presence in Musul ?

Feeling is mutual, bro. :)

Once that is settled without us, then let see me you try.

Terrorism.
Wow, 30 people. They sure represent whole Iraq, I'm impressed.
These are people from Mosul only and in London, what did you expect? Millions? My posting isn't about their numbers, it is expected an Irani wouldn't get that.
