The Iraqi Army is Hezbullah my friend. Iraqi Army are filled with Ex-Mahdi Army Soldiers, Ex-Khorasani Militia Soldiers and Ex-Badr Militia Soldiers.

The pic could be 2 things.

The volunteers/militia retrieved the tank.
Army & volunteers working together, they took a picture with it doesn't mean they own it.

The latter is very possible and a good combination as well, the volunteers have proven to be proper infantry in this COIN war whereas the heavy army has been using conventional strategy battling light mobile terrorists.

why shouldn't the army and the militias work together ?

i don't think the state of iraq lets the militias to have anything more sophisticated than recon drones and rocket launchers

Hezbollah is part of the Iraqi army like how Right Sector is part of the Ukrainian army and Shabiha is part of the Syrian army.

Badr, Asa'ib ahl al Haq, Kata'ib Hezbollah, Imam Ali brigades, Hezbollah al nujaba, Al Abbas group, sayid alshuhada.... And about 30 other groups. They are the backbone of the Iraqi forces. In fact, they ARE Iraq's real force, and with all pride.

Without these groups Iraq now would be another Rwanda. Militia are not the Iraqis dream but unfortunately the army profed not good of handling the task. By the way all these groups are men who left their families and their business to defend the nation from savages they are not terrorists who dreaming of making their state these shea militia fight to defend democracy and freedom.

Your talking bout Saraya alsalam (peace brigades) which follow Mowtada. They are neo-JAM network and are probably the least brutal of all groups. In fact Moqtada Al Sade put saraya alsalam under direct MOD control.

Not every shia fighting group in Iraq is led by Moqtada. Yes they are all shia,I don't see what exactly is your point with that. The 9th Armored division is all army, however, the paramilitary groups infantry are much more efficient then the army. They also give a moral boost to the IA, that's why they usually win battles and don't loose group.

For your information. This convoy was headed to Anbar to take part in an operation to assist sunni tribal fights, a battle which had US advisors overlook it as well.

Never heard or have seen such thing. Iraq indeed in need for such capability for hundreds of them but our lot either so ignorant or careless.
