Probably first in a class of ships. I hope the subsequent designs are stealthy trimaran hulls with VLS x 32, at least.
honestly , i hope not , its better the ship be a serially produced one , not like moudge that was test bed for navy to test various eqipment and configuration and not two of them be the same .
that model is from 10 years ago . i still hope that a model and the actual ship be somehow different .

Being a training ship, I doubt there's a requirement for multiple examples. As far as I can tell, training ships don't necessarily have to look like any of the serially produced classes of vessels. So there's a chance subsequent ships of this size would be completely different indeed. In which case, they wouldn't fall under the same class however, but would constitute an entirely distinct one onto themselves.

since the Loghman would become the first ship born with military characteristics of greater dimensions and displacement to date built in the Iranian shipyards and therefore would competently carry out missions in the high seas and oceanic, it would be appropriate to assign it a double role of training and combat ship, and in base to this it is a question of equipping it with all the armaments that also allow it to perform the destroyer missions in an optimal manner.
Once completed and used in missions, she would give good teaching and insights on how to improve designs for the next big destroyers Iran wants to build.
So new systems are welcome including the VLS, but also a main gun of higher caliber than the Fajr-27, I think of a 127mm (who knows if they can receive from Venezuela one of the Oto-Melara 127/54 recovered by the Lupo class frigates that now they are dismantling and demolishing and from this 127/54 extrapolating an Iranian version), alternatively develop a 130mm caliber weapon

I agree. Either if it is a training vessel or a test bed, soon or late will be assigned to a military mission (escorting high value targets or protecting SLOCs). Anyway, let me be clear at this point; it is highly unrealistic starting for a big ship while you have moored a corvette sized ship. So I am sceptic about this project, I agree with Immortal it will take at least 5 years to build, test and assign to the Navy. Hope I am wrong.

An Italian, a Bosniak and a Spaniard banding together as well-wishers of Iran and speculating on it's military prowess.

It's awesome 👌🏻 Love it 😀!

as i said another Foolad-e-Mobarakeh headache ,they had to build new road and bridge to transport that steel-factory equipment to Isfahan, there is a documentary about it.
and no 18wheeler or tank transporter is big enough to transport those parts
the ship is 154m divide it in 7 and each part will be more than 20m long and 18m wide and 10m high. now i wonder how you want to put those parts on tank transporter and 18 wheelers
You're talking about the same Iran that slapped entire Kilo class submarines to trucks

It seems what we see here is ground based Kamand CIWS

From this, sytem include

CIWS Kamand gun + Oerlikon twin 35mm AAA
Azarakhsh Like missile luncher
Engagement radar
Command and Control post
Iran previosly combined Rapier or HQ7 with skyguard and it seems they Will go with similar idea, to develop SHORAD, which would now include also ground base CIWS along missile system and 35mm twin AAA.. This would cover every Thing... from low altitude UAVs, loitering munition,Cruise missiles.. up to air lunched missiles, glide bombs.. etc

on what truck exactly , we have truck and we have truck .
as i said we transported foolad-e-Mobarakeh equipment by truck but it was not a tank carrier truck or an 18 wheeler

Not Best image but still interesting... Radar of ground based Kamand CIWS
actually very good spec for such system.except when it reach the number of the target it can engage , if later we add some missile to the system , it will be a bottleneck .
by the way it say detection range 1.5 to 30km but its engagement range certainly must cover targets less than 1.5km . thats strange

Multipurpose engagement radars are used for detection, acquisition and engagement. So once target is detected than it is tracked (target acquisition) when enter engagement range it is engaged, that is why some radars have different data for detection, acquisition and engagement. 1.5 KM is already deep in engagement range even for CIWS, I suppose there Will be also EO/IR guidance integrated which is very good for extremly close engagement...

Thanks,

I am fan to whom say "NO" to US, Israel, UK and NATO "allies". And I think Gold Medal has been for Iran. NATO is an instrument of control over EU armies. And main allies of US are; Saudi Arabia, Israel and United Kindom, so some people like to breathe fresh air out of those neighborhoods.

You need a radar for a good engagement to a incoming missile. Only a good continous waver illumination radar can detect missile your own rounds (tens or even hundreds per second, in the case of excellent H/PJ-11 CIWS) and correct at same time your weapon and the incoming thread. So if Sahand receives a Radar EO/IR mount for the Kamand, it would be a huge leap forward in protecting the IRIN/IRGCN ships.

Iranian made "KAMAND" CIWS
'Kamand' is an Iranian 6 barrels, 30mm gun Close-In Weapon System. The design is based on the a reverse engineered and modified Russian AK-630 system with Iranian gatling gun and EO/IR tracking system.

  • Rate of fire: 4,000 to 7,000 rounds per minute.
  • Range: 2 Km
  • Sensors: EO/IR

PS: just looking at Ground version of Kamand yesterday with a dedicated radar ..I am now sure that naval version also has a radar interface using possibly ships "ASR" and/or "Eagle eye" for search and track function
